So, I want to loose weight, I need to get healthy and fit back into my wardrobe!!

Any other motivation for nice things that happened? I often have swollen feet and hands, so I'm hoping this might change. I have some shoes that are too tight I'd like to wear again.....

I hate the way I wobble when I run so hoping this might change.

Any other things you noticed??

Not feeling guilty about what I put in my mouth as I was in control

Paddlingstillpaddling · 02/03/2021 09:17

So, so many! I love the way clothes fit, I like my reflection in the mirror, I don’t beat myself up for being fat, I don’t feel bad when I have a treat... I just love my running/walking routine now and can’t bear to skip more than one day. I feel lighter, more energetic, my face looks better (less puffy). I choose healthy food that is also delicious so I am not missing out!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 02/03/2021 10:10

Oh and collarbones, they're great. I can feel them and now see them in the mirror. I really love my collarbones.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/03/2021 11:15

Lost 40 something kg.

I don't need break when changing bed sheets🙈
I am feeling generally my happier self
The laziness is dissapearing actually so if I need something upstairs, I just go and get it instead of waiting when I have other 5 reasons to go🙈
I am not ill often🤔 I always had great immunity until I reached the top weight.
Aoon I will be able to wear my rings again!

AcornAutumn · 02/03/2021 12:25

To people who have lost weight, did you feel tired during the weight loss period?

No, I don't need blood tests before anyone asks.

I'm not sure if it's just harder to drag an extra 4 stone around at 45, than it was to drag an extra 2 stone around at 40!

Did you feel mentally tired when not using sugary snacks as a pick me up? Tell me it's all worth it....

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 02/03/2021 13:02

@AcornAutumn the first week/ 2 weeks I felt awful. I cut way back on carbs and sugar and my body did not like it at all. I was constantly hungry despite eating loads of good healthy veg, meat and everything except processed carbs. I was tired, moody and headachy. Then it just stopped like magic one day and I didn't feel as hungry, wasn't craving chocolate, had energy. I was hard getting through those first couple of weeks though.

AcornAutumn · 02/03/2021 13:38

Thanks Half

I am losing weight slowly and even then it seems tiring!

StarsonaString · 02/03/2021 14:17

I lost 10st in total. Have put a small bit back on and getting it off again. Best thing I ever did.

I can cross my legs.
No more pain walking. Can go wherever I want without thinking about if I'll need to stop.
Better sleep.
Far less sweaty. I also cope with the heat a lot better (less so with cold brrr).
No chafing.
Clothes look great.
I can shop anywhere I want.
Less judgment (I believe I lost out at job interviews due to my weight).
Heels are more comfortable.
I don't avoid the mirror.
Sex is better.
I don't have laboured breath going upstairs
At my biggest, I once didn't fit the safety harness on a rollercoaster so no more shameful things like that.
I looked 10 years older at my biggest and now look my age.
Not worried about my health.
Skin is great.
Can see and feel my bones.

Noshowlomo · 02/03/2021 17:38

Well done @StarsonaString, super inspiring ! x

Justmuddlingalong · 02/03/2021 17:41

I don't get a fusty belly button from squeezing my too big belly into too small clothes.

Alternista · 02/03/2021 17:42

This is useful for me, thank you. I’ve lost three stones and have one more to go and my motivation has been a bit low so this is good timing :)

My IBS, cholesterol, blood sugar and kidney function have all improved massively.

My skin is clear and bright.

I feel proud of myself, successful, in control.

I look better on screen and in photos without needing to try so hard.

MacbookHoHoHo · 02/03/2021 17:54

I've lost almost 60lbs over the past few years. For me, the main benefits are:

  • Don't have to try clothes on anymore, and I can buy stuff online and know it'll fit and there won't be any muffin top;.
  • I can paint my toenails so much more easily!
  • Sex is 100% better when you have skinnier legs .. Less to get in the way.
  • You can wear anything just because you like it and/or it projects the desired image. You're not only concerned with covering up various body parts.
  • If you have to answer the door to the postman and you're only dressed in a towel, or long T-shirt, it's much less embarrassing.
  • When people you haven't seen for ages suggest meeting up, your heart doesn't immediately sink.
  • I'm not dreading the summer.

I hope I don't sound really arrogant! It hasn't been 100% perfect as I have developed a turkey neck! But overall, I feel good about myself.

user88899 · 02/03/2021 18:15

I haven't lost a huge amount, but from the top of my healthy BMI to back to the middle I sleep better, have much better heart rate dips in my sleep, my periods are 28 days to the hour almost, my heart rate is hugely improved and mostly I just walk proud and like myself more. I just appreciate my body more and feel in control of my life.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/03/2021 18:26

@AcornAutumn I wasn't tired, but that might have been as well because I just barely eat sweets and my 1kg sugar bag is from like 4 years ago and there is still about 10%. I was never really on processed sugar so it may be that. My issue was cheeseBlush

However, I can absolutely tell you that getting through that hard bit is absolutely worth it. It just is.

AcornAutumn · 02/03/2021 18:30

Thank you Schrodinger

Most of the problems listed are here are problems I don't have but of course could easily develop. Partly I lose motivation because the only major issues for me are appearance, and less ability to do yoga.

The first post saying the poster feels calmer...I would like that.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 02/03/2021 19:04

4 stone lost, 1 to go.

Suddenly just not thinking about my weight. I didn't realised how much time I spent worrying and stressing about it.

Wedding ring fits again after nearly needing to cut it off during last pregnancy.

Every day is a good skin day. Few spots general redness and puffiness gone.

Cheek and collar bones and neck now visible.

Realising that under all the fat I actually have a nice figure and I'm not a weird shape.

Wearing clothes and normal movement is comfortable again.

I'm low carbing too. After 3 weeks, craving and appetite reducing.

SunnyNights · 02/03/2021 19:17

I spent years trying to lose 2-3 stone and finally did it last year.

The biggest difference is just not feeling guilty and that I need to do something about my weight - it really hung over me like a dark cloud.

It's not all plain sailing when at goal weight (find I'm still v careful so I don't gain again) but life is so much better now.

My thirties were not as fun as they could have been, (I'm now 40) and really wish Id lost weight sooner.

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 02/03/2021 19:25

I started intermittent fasting, 18:6-ish, and one amazing side effect has been that my teeth feel much less sensitive. I put it down to less acidy snack debris in my mouth throughout the day. I didn't use to eat lots of sweet stuff necessarily, but would just graze my way through the day. I was about to buy special tooth paste but realised that the sensitivity had completely disappeared. I fell off the IF wagon over half term, and snacked quite a bit, and my poor teeth really felt it pretty much straight away. Now I brush my teeth after dinner and don't put anything else in my mouth until lunchtime the next day, and my teeth feel fantastic.
On a weight loss note, I really enjoy seeing the sinews in my feet, wierdly.
I also enjoy, having broken the back of the snacking habit, not being so preoccupied with food. Now I just eat in my 'window', and there's only so much I can eat in 6 hours to pack in my daily calories.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 02/03/2021 19:33

Better sex. I'd got really self conscious and awkward about DP looking at me starkers. Now I almost like it. Definitely makes DTD more fun and relaxed. Plus the more energy thing is helpful there too.

felulageller · 02/03/2021 20:01

I can buy smaller cheaper bras.
Thighs feel firmer
Can do better yoga poses
Can playtag with DC
Can jog
Can go up stairs without being out of breath
Less back ache
Less joint pain
Feet not as sore when walking
Leggings not getting as worn between the thighs
Face slimmer

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/03/2021 21:40

@AcornAutumn oh yeah. It will be absolutely different for someone who reached 150kg to someone at 90kg (not you, just an example of the difference).

As with anything it is difficult to fully understand the issues until someone experiences them. Like I cannot fully process the people talking about verbal abuse due to their weight because I never had it, someone else cannot fully process the feeling when you have to consider chair and furniture. It's all very relative.
One thing which I wish I listened to is "it's eaiser to keep fit than get fit".

One thing I realised is a nice side effect is... I used to wear colourful clothes. Now I wear simple black. With every kilo I lose I get more excited to be my old me and I have now wardrobe planned out😁 It's such a great feeling getting yourself back.

I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but sex life is another. When you reach certain weight some positions get hard🤷🏻 I am bendy af. I can touch mo toes etc. Still the fat shows in bed. It just does. Sadly. And not just with snoring🤦

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/03/2021 21:43

Also, just if anyone wants a giggle about how weord brains can be.
I now feel emancipated 😂😂😂 My tops are now really freer and so my brain decided my hands are liek size -10😂😂😂 I have to grab my wrist to make it stop playing that game (which got me to 150kg in the first place!)😂

Noshowlomo · 02/03/2021 22:04

Wohoooo. I am not a runner, but you go! You can do kt, you will feel it, you will love the result
Veronika13 · 03/03/2021 22:10

Just looking in the mirror and really liking what I see - this for me is the best feeling about weight loss.

I also have a better sex life when I like what I see in myself. I feel more relaxed, confident, and just pleased with myself. It’s a nice feeling
