Will my plan work?

Hi,

So my plan is:

1,500 calories a day
Try and eat more protein
Couch to 5K
2/3 small home workouts a week

I want to try and lose 2 pounds a week

Your calorie intake will depend on your current weight and age, and on how tall you are. Running isn't the best way to lose weight and can make you hungry so try not to over do things to begin with. Good luck!

It depends on your size. You need to get your base metabolic rate and base calories you burn. Then have 200 less per day. And it's got to be every day and count every calorie. I'm a shocker for wine calories and cheating at weekends!

Your plan wouldn't work for me but I'm 5 foot 2.

I’m 28, 5,4 and 10 stone 11

Would that be too many calories?

You'll lose weight on 1500 and it's a good sustainable target.
I think 2lbs a week might be optimistic though. You might lose that at first but then plateau around three weeks and then settle in to 1lb a week.

That can be a bit disappointing and a bit 'why bother' but just keep your eye on the prize. I lost 2 stone last year and it took me 10 months (9 really as I stopped for breaks at Easter/ august holiday).
It felt so slow but by the end was a big big difference.

Good luck.

By the way, ignore the stuff about BMR minus 200 that's not true I realise after googling.

Your BMR is around 1500 so if you eat that, any exercise or movement will be burned off weight.

I did low carb (biwi's boot camp on here) and burned 400 cals on a cross trainer 5-6 times a week. But I'm mid 40's. I seem to remember eons ago, when I was 28, weight loss was much easier!

I would say aim for 1200 cals. When I did My Fitness Pal that was what it recommended and it worked for me. I'm 5ft 8 and was 11.5 stone.

I also 'ate my exercise' calories, which still worked, but some say not to. And obvs if you don't then it'll work faster!

Will try and do 1,200 this week and see if I can stick to it. Would be happier with a 2lb loss a week
