Omg I’ve just weighed myself and I’m mortified

The combination of lockdown, a breakup, divorce and a house move has meant I’m just eating and drinking so badly and I weigh more than I ever have and look 6 months pregnant. My clothes don’t fit, everything is uncomfortable and I’ve got zero energy.

How on earth do I go about losing it? I’ve done WW, fasting, all sorts before and they work but they’re not sustainable. I need to do it sensibly this time, it’s got to be a lifestyle change.

Help, where the hell do I start?

Don’t pressure yourself to much op it sounds a stressful year you’ve had . If you know you have been over eating and drinking just cut back and you’ll see steady weight loss

By drinking do you mean alcohol ? If so that’s full of calories so cutting that right back in itself will help anyway .

You can get apps that help track your calorie intake for the day which might help

Can you get out for some longer walks ?

My weight has been gradually creeping up too. I’ve been going for a brisk 45min-1hr walk about 4 times a week for the past 3 weeks and I’ve stopped snacking but I’m still eating normal (for me) meals and I’ve been losing about 1lb a week. I just need to keep it up now.

Download my fitness pal and start logging all your food. It's the only thing that's worked for me OP. It was actually eye opening to see how many calories I was having a day!!!

I didn't need to lose much but when I do I always do intermittent fasting 16-8. I don't have breakfast and just have something small for lunch and an evening meal and a bit of something sweet if I fancy it. Always works for me but like I said I only needed to lose half a stone or so.

Agree with PP - MyFitnessPal is great!
I have been using it about 3 weeks as am trying to lose baby weight. Down 9lbs so far - sounds good but I think that just shows how bad my diet was before to be honest. Very eye opening.
Good luck on your journey. X

I took the courage to weigh myself today too, I'm a stone heavier than I thought I'd be, I need to lose around 3 stone, the sad thing is I lost it all a few years ago but put it all back on, I used mfp before I found it good to weigh and record my food in my diary so I shall be doing that again from tomorrow.

Op same here, I've been through divorce, another relationship break up, lockdown boredom, time to get my life together again and it helps when you feel healthier.

Thanks all, it’s so depresssing but needs facing up to. I signed up for the Second Nature programme yesterday so I’m hoping it will help - for £90 it needs to!

@Frenchblue

I saw that advertised the other day after never having heard of it. Was intrigued - would be really interested to see how you get on and what you think.

In other news I had half a pizza last night and felt absolutely dreadful. It would be TMI for me to tell you how I suffered. Think I’ll go back to the calorie counting today 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Pipperleen 😬😳 Happy to let you know what it’s like, I’m also reading Dr Chatterjee’s book Feel Great Lose Weight and it makes sense so far. Both seem to address why we eat as much as what/how much and I think that’s key for me.
