Are you weighting daily? My weight can go kilos up and down.

As long as overall is down, it's absolutely fine and normal.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 17/01/2021 10:15

For example
100kg mon, tue 100, wed 102, thu100.5, fri 100, sat, 100.5, sun 99.5, mon 99. It's sometimes even bigger difference so don't get stricter and stricter because of daily moves.

thank you. I'm new to this and naively after the first dramatic decline thought I'd see a lovely small smooth daily drop.

Covid, the perimenopause, change in working patterns, I've gone from a healthy, lifetime of 'average' to a bit of a mess. (And it's not falling off, like it did in my 20s)

You are doing ok! Don't stress.
It honestly NEVER goes straight down daily. Some days you hold more water, some days you don't. Some days you may be slightly constipated etc. Small things can show up like this.

10kaDay · 17/01/2021 16:26

Agree, weight can fluctuate quite a bit over a day or 2 (2-3 pounds, similar weight to you)

Keep going & look at trend over several years

Spodge · 17/01/2021 17:15

It's normal. My weight can go up 3lb overnight for no justifiable reason. Peri and lockdown stress won't be helping.

The main thing is to make sure you are eating in a calorie deficit and then stop getting stricter on a daily basis. Trust in the process and stick at it. If in four to six weeks you have made no noticeable downward progress then you may need to re-assess.

I weigh daily as a matter of interest and because it works best for me but if you find the spikes hard to deal with you may be better off weighing weekly.

There's a free app called Happy Scale that you can use to log your weight and it will show the trends for you. I find it quite good.

TheFaithfulBorderBinliner · 17/01/2021 22:27

Thank you.
It's crazy isn't it, how can I lose/gain so much just overnight!

I'm in the first flush of sorting this out and the Covid stress recently has been awful. A few unflattering photos haven't helped!

Download Happy scales and it'll smooth out the daily fluctuations etc. Has weight predictions too

TheFaithfulBorderBinliner · 17/01/2021 22:29

10kaday useful to know, same ish weight & fluctuations, on the internet we have no idea if the progress reports are from an elf or a 7ft Viking.

I claim bodies are like printers. They can smell you wnat them to do something so they will do the opposite😂

Well I appear to be incubating a stress, food baby since I took the decision to cut down on my pork life and get some exercise.
