Welcome to the new thread!

OP posts:
pollywollybauble · 28/11/2007 20:36

well spottyshoes,i wish someone would think i was under 18...maybe in a good light, from the back...oh and underneath a blanket!....you youthful but alcohol-less person you

i haven't had a good day foodwise....it's always bad when i make batches of food and i had loads of smoked cheese and red onion sausages and gingerbread snowman, trees and rudolph in the kitchen

so
brekkie...2 crumpets
mids cappuccino and gingerbread tree
lunch.....2 veggie sausages on w/meal bread with tommie sauce. melon.a bit of halva
mids......gingerbread snowman
evening....pasta bake with green beans.melon. gingerbread rudie (that completed the set!)
now..cappuccino and hopefully can haul myself back on line and not pick at the rest

have frozen the sausages and counted the gingerbreads, telling dh how many there are (so will be teased if eat more than one before tommorrow night!)

pollywollybauble · 28/11/2007 20:39

how do i manage that?
dh just walked past with some halva and i helped myself to a big dollop even as i was typing about how i was going to haul myself in

katybump · 28/11/2007 21:03

oh spottyshoes please do tell your secret of eternal youth?could it be the creamy froth of your cappuccino erasing those tell tale lines

pollywollybauble i am coming to your house!i want some of those yummy sausages and ginerbread xmas treats mmmmmmm

i have only had slimfast today and then for dinner had beans on toast, have been playing silly buggers with the kids and that was just what i fancied.i realised that i bought the slimfast to drink for brekkie and lunch NOT to sit in the fridge.

hows was your interview mylittlepudding?

tangerine any news on the scales?

spottyshoes · 28/11/2007 21:04

But I DONT look under 18 Polly that is why I am They might not be close ups but you can see the pics on my profile - I look 25(good day) - 30 (bad day) (I think!)

Lol at completing the gingerbread set. I dont think your menu sounded too bad, being a veggie you will naturally be choosing a healthier option than us meat eaters - especially when it comes to sausages! They sound yum.

Naughty halva being so tempting - I am lucky that I havent a clue where to buy it otherwise I might become addicted too .... NO DONT TELL ME

tangarine · 28/11/2007 22:24

I feel a change of career coming on after reading all this lovely chat. What a nice thread and what lovely people we must be to have found each other.

Well katy, no news on the scales as I didn't make it to the gym (when I wasn't swotting all weekend I took ds out to the park). But I got into some trousers I haven't worn for literally years today.

I have spent the last three evenings finishing the plum crumble and it is now all gone. The braised red cabbage I made on Saturday night is still going strong (dh didn't like it as it had orange in it and he doesn't like citrus with savoury food) despite me eating it every day since then. Pity the crumble doesn't self divide endlessly in the same way.

I'm working from home tomorrow so the temptation to scoff pointlessly will be strong.

MLP - sorry to hear about your redundancy. Hope the interview went well today. Are you a sufferer or an expert? Spottyshoes your job sounds interesting but also very challenging. Oh and well done for looking so young! 46 packed boxes that's amazing. We came back to the UK a few years ago from living overseas and we only had about 60 boxes for the whole household! Polly drop that halva now!

katybump · 28/11/2007 22:39

tangerine i agree with you about the truely lovely people on this thread

i'm off to bed now so goodnight everyone
think thin

spottyshoes · 28/11/2007 23:25

hmmphhh, am now sulking about the amount of crap we must have. 46 boxes is only what fits in the kitchen ready for the men to carry out on fri. We have a few in other rooms and about 10 left to fill. We of course have furniture to pack on top of all that!

How do you make braised cabbage? dh loves cabbage!

Polly - 2nd warning - leave the halva

susiecutiemincepies · 28/11/2007 23:31

evening you lovely lot
and yes you are all so lovely, i feel very lucky to have met you all >

not surprising we are all drawn together, as we all seem to work with 'people' in some way IYSWIM?

I've been having trouble getting on here for the last few days. posted earlier and not been able to get on since

That and having horrible time with Isobel teething. She now has 4 cmoing through all at once, and i think there might be a sneeky no 5 in there too...

We were up all night together. I got so cross with her and have felt guilty all day

Thank you all for your kind and positive words about me moving, and asking for help etc... Its really worrying me. I must write a list I think tomorrow. I have a friend coming in the afternoon, so we will do some measuring of windows and shelves. Lucky I have the key really, I keep popping down there and imagining where i'm going to put every thing, so I can really direct it all in an organised way |

I would love a job in that nursery of yours Katy sounds like such a great idea... and why should it just be an idea hey? ( apart from the fact we all have to move! )

polly I too have a weakness for halva... a really bad weakness I have to just avoid it at all costs. no-one else likes it here so i have to eat it all if it gets into the shopping

also polly your comment about not being for me but my family really helped so thank you so much for that I'm really crap at asking for help, and crap at thinking about my self so to put it in those terms sits really nicely for me.

I was banned from the motor scooters at asda many years ago. I kept crashing into people and things.

so any other tips on this teething malarky? my friend today told me to try ambesol liquid, but chemist didnt have any, he's ordered it in for me though for tomorrow. i pray it helps! Have any of you tried the amber necklaces? or anything else at all? please ?

pollywollybauble · 29/11/2007 00:30

now i'm really intrigued, what have amber necklaces got to do with teething??

this may be an unpopular view but when dd had a bunch of teeth coming through and it really disturbed her sleep i gave her that cough medicine with a bit of a sedative in it alongside her calpol....is it your dd who doesn't like calpol? maybe try putting it in some stewed plums or a bit of golden syrup to drown the taste

the mobility scooters just take practice...my dd asks for me to do "scooterdancing" whenever we go to macro (wide aisles)...cue my best strictly come dancing impersonation

ps i put down the halva after my absentminded picking earlier....i must have picked up the vibes

it's been a real nuisance trying to get on MN the last few days...glad it isn't just me!

pollywollybauble · 29/11/2007 00:36

ps spotty, i can't see any piccies of you any more....i must only be able to see them as pwdoooooooooodle with a forgotten number of o's....ould have said to said old hag with boot face "do they give you this much trouble when you pick your pension up?".....cue MN ageist police coming down on me like a ton of bricks...

spottyshoes · 29/11/2007 07:45

I'm crap at thinking quickly of good comebacks. It wont let me add your new name to the mates list at the mo. MN seems to be playing up a bit at the moment - I also get a 'service error' msg when I try and post.

Have to add a midnight mcflurry to the list - dh bought one on the way home.

Healthy eating today katybumpers ra ra ra!

spottyshoes · 29/11/2007 07:47

Re teething, i'm afraid we just used calpol. Tried teething rings but b'shoes bites everything but, usually my fingers. I keep a couple of his spoons in the fridge as he like to chew those, or sticks of cold cucumber help.

laloup · 30/11/2007 09:46

Hi girls

Have strayed again from the healthy eating plan. But I'm going to put my heart and soul into it for the next couple of weeks to see if I can ditch half a stone before Christmas (so that I can enjoy putting it back on again likely ). Starting running again this weekend and will try to keep the wine intake under control.

Well done everyone, you are all doing great! Will try to check in later with daily menu.

katybump · 30/11/2007 16:11

welcome back laloup half a stone by christmas sounds like a good plan to me.anyone else up for it?

pollywollybauble · 30/11/2007 17:59

hi laloup,
go for it!
at the rate i'm going i might have lost half a stone altogether by xmas...and will be pleased with that

well done on the fastened up jeans katyb....platinum pompom shake for you!

today
mid am...2 gingerbreads with the visitors
mid pm ...carrot soup and 2 slices w/meal bread
eve...will be oven fish and a few wedges and mushy peas then melon

mylittlepudding · 30/11/2007 18:51

Hello everyone I came back!

The magazine thing was a bit strange, (was there as survivor) but was good to see my mum (wondering about how to ask about some babyproofing for next time). I did the trip sans pushchair, so the exercise of carrying dd in the backpack and the case around should have helped!

Katy under 11 stone is brilliant! Much waving of pompoms for you.

Susiec we find the calpol gel (or Boots equivalent) and regular (as in 8hourly) ibuprofen until you don't notice the grizzly wearing off stage, and cold things to eat - refridgerated fruit, etc. helps a bit.

Polly what did you used to do? I only started missing work lately, feel very torn.

laloup welcome back - I intend to relax a bit come Christmas too, worth losing it in advance, I hope!

Apologies to whoever I've missed!

Today:
low fat croissant (led on by my mother, honest!)
bagel with mozzarella - though dd ate nearly half of it
planning on pasta with pesto and mozzarella tonight - as it's what is in the fridge, and I couldn't face shopping once we got home. And of course DP hasn't done any while we were away!

katybump · 30/11/2007 20:31

is anyone still doing some form of excercise?
i really want to lose some more weight but can't seem to get off my backside unless it's to go shopping
how is everyone tonight?
i've had slimfast again today and fruit, don't know what to have for dinner,it feels that late though with it going dark so early i don't know if i can be bothered!
