Do you lose weight everyday when on a diet?

So for example, I didn’t go down the scales at all today, did I eat too much yesterday?

No, there are too many variants for that to work. Your bowel doesn't work at a constant speed, it depends what you've eaten. You retain water because of hormonal variations etc.

You need to look for a downward trend, rather than a daily loss.

No. Fluctuations can be huge and apparently random. Sometimes you will weigh more than yesterday even if you followed your plan rigorously.

Raaraaboonah · 04/01/2021 17:48

I've got an app where you record your daily weight and it evens out the random fluctuations with a predicted weight. i find it really helpful so I don't self sabotage when the number on the scales doesn't reflect the hard work.

I know i should probably throw them away but i am so much happier in myself when i'm a bit slimmer.

the app is called happy scale i htink

No definitely not. Some days you will stay the same or even go up a bit and then have a big drop in weight a few days later. Try to track your weight weekly or even fortnightly.

I can go kilos up and down within a week.
For example today I was 100kg (not really lol). I am having drinks and food which is salty. Tomorrow I will most likely be easily 103. Then it goes down 102, 100, 101 and next mon I will be 99.

Don't look at each day. Look at overall. Is it overall going down? Good!

My weight can fluctuate up to 4 pounds in 24 hours, 2 pounds up/down very common. I’d weigh a few times a week and take the average - several apps do this incl Fitbit and Happy Scale

PurpleDaisies · 04/01/2021 22:23

No. I often don’t lose at all for the first couple of weeks. Then it’s up and down. Look at the overall trend, not the daily gain/loss.

Almostslimjim · 07/01/2021 11:44

You lose fat every day, but it won't necessarily reflect in weight loss everyday for the reasons explained above, it's why "experts" don't recommend weighing more than once a week.
