Giving up cola

I am so embarrassed to admit that I have been drinking an obscene amount of cola for as long as I remember. To the point where I don’t drink anything else and I’m fully addicted!! I’m giving it up mainly for health reasons and so my kids don’t think it’s normal to drink that amount but if I lose some weight too that would be a bonus.

So far I’ve lasted a week and it’s been hard (withdrawal headaches have been horrendous). I’ve been drinking water and the very occasional glass of fruit juice/milk/tea instead but haven’t lost anything at all. Does anyone know if this is something that will come or because it’s a liquid is it unlikely to make a difference weight wise?

In the long term it will help weight loss .
If you were drinking full fat then you are now consuming less calories (if everything else stays the same in terms of food, exercise etc )

and if you were drinking diet then you will be consuming less toxins and sweeteners which some say encourage weight gain ans also cravings for sugar.

Also less caffeine which isn't great for weight loss

Either way you have done a great thing for your body.

The headaches will go!

I drink a lot of sparkling water now!

You will also be less bloated (from the sodium I think ) so you will look thinner even if the scales don't show it

I’ve noticed the last year or so I’ve been constantly bloated so would definitely welcome that easing. And yes it was full fat not diet - thanks for the encouragement I definitely can’t go back now that I’ve realised how bad it is.

Eventually you will stop craving it and if you do have one you won't like the fast

I used to have at least one to three cans a day but Maybe one a week now. Stomach feels so much better.

I do have to force myself to try and drink 2L of water a day but am getting there
