Wobble

Ok, so I’m 35 and I weigh 56kg, around the same I did at 18. Lowest prob 50kg and highest around 57kg. Ideally I’d be half a stone less but I struggle now.

What do you do to maintain your weight - I run now and again for about an hour everyday in proper lockdown (slowly), play tennis / racketball around 8 hours a week but move less in doubles. Pilates once a week which feels like a life time. I’m looking a bit wobbly (not badly just not beach body ready or as firm a skin as in the past). My tummy after baby sticks out more if I eat a pizza but if I don’t eat much pings back to an ok size.

I know I’m fairly small, but what do you do to maintain your weight. Should I be doing strength training? Should I be doing more HIIT exercises. Do I need a PT?

Eating wise I’m not fussed. Just simple things to cook!

Any help would be great. I don’t want to be a petite moon-crater type when older. Would like to be wearing my Summer tennis skirts until at least 70!

Sounds like just a bit of bloating after your pizza if it goes down. With regards to your exercise a mixture of cardio and strength training is the ideal. You don't need a PT but they can give you programmes to help achieve your goals. Have you got scales that give you an idea of muscle mass versus fat?

Oh and there are plenty of workouts on YouTube to strengthen and train specific muscle groups. As well as ones for running technique and training schedules. You could give some of these a go if they look like they fit the bill.

I feel like I should be on commission for them I’ve recommended it so much but Les mills on demand is fantastic. There’s a two week free trial and I kept it. Really easy to squeeze in a quick 15/30 minute work out in a quiet moment. There’s a great selection of classes including body balance which is sort of Pilates/yoga. Plus loads of great cardio type classes.

The thing that’s made the most difference to my wobble is lifting weights. It’s harder now with no gym but a couple of dumbbells are not a bad substitute,

If you can afford a PT, go for it. I loved mine and was fitter than I’ve ever been up until I started or since.

How tall are you?

Fivefatsausages · 31/12/2020 10:12

Thank you, 5 foot 5 inches.
Thanks so dumbbells for arms - what about legs?

I haven’t much time as I love my racket sports but just a bit of a blast throughout the week may help.
Maybe a few reps would that help? I will use YoTube and Les Mills to research but I find videos so impersonal 🤣🤣!

I have tennis coaching once a week so think husband look at me as of nuts if get a PT once a week too, but maybe a programme would help me?

Mmm, I’m a member of a decent gym but guess private PT are probably better.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

Sorry just seen Les Mills is 15 min - that’s great. Will try that!

You can choose, there’s a variety. If I’m short on time I just skip a few tracks from a longer one. It’s been really good for me. There’s a long thread about it here somewhere.

Just thought...there’s a weight loss maintenance thread which i think will likely focus on exercise starting here.
