I just had a large piece of chocolate flapjack - help me with lunch and dinner please!

After my usual sub 200 cals breakfast, the combo of being on, being in a cr@ppy mood, and the sheer ease of it, I reached for the last piece of chocolate flapjack my OH bought yesterday. I'm thinking it's worth around 400 calories. I'm now in an even worse mood at how silly I was.

I'm trying to stick to no more than 1,200 calories per day. So now I have around 600 to split between lunch and dinner. Any idea what I can have that will keep me within my allowance for the rest of today? THank you.

Skip lunch?

QueenPaws · 03/11/2020 12:27

Scrambled eggs with mushrooms/ham for lunch or an omelette?
Then something like chicken and veg for tea

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 03/11/2020 12:31

I could skip lunch because I'm in such a foul mood and when that happens I'm not very hungry. Plus I have a lunchtime work meeting so I could just do that.

@QueenPaws when you do scrambled eggs, how many eggs do you do? I find that two makes a very small amount (maybe I cook them too long). I do have chicken so I could do that for dinner. Thank you.

I have 3 - large which is 240 cals then wafer thin ham or mushrooms so around 300 all in

Yes if you aren't hungry just treat the flapjack as lunch (do make sure to keep drinking plenty of water/tea though to keep hydrated or you'll end up with a banging headache which I'm sure won't add to the mood Grin ! ). If you do get peckish maybe something really light like a vegetable soup or even a cup of miso or bovril if you have some might just hit the spot. Keeping it to about 100 cals for lunch will leave you 600ish for dinner which will give you something pretty normal particularly if you leave off or reduce the carb portion. I like things like a veggie curry, chilli or stir fry for low cal days, include loads of vegetables so it doesn't feel like a stingy portion and you'll be grand. Something with lots of spice and flavour always distracts from the fact it's low cal for me...

Cuppa soup and small salad.

Also, when I have an off day with calorie counting, I try and offset it across the course of the rest of the week rather than trying to 'make up for it' all at once. So honestly, if you end up eating more like 1500 today don't panic or think fuck it and abandon the diet, it truly won't make a huge difference, you can maybe just have 1150 for the next few days and it will be absolutely fine, or in fact just treat it as a (very minor) blip and stick to 1200 for the rest of the week...

Chicken breast plus salad for dinner?

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 03/11/2020 14:13

Just got back from my lunchtime meeting. Felt peckish so I had a rice cake and 75g of roasted peppers. A total of 56 calories and I'm OK now. Hopefully I'll last until dinner - I got some chicken out. Thanks everyone for the ideas and the support!
