Feeling apprehensive

A friend whom I haven't seen for years has suggested a future meet up, when Covid allows. We have exchanged photos, and I can see that she is still very slim. I was slim the last time we met but I am now overweight, although not obese. I am dreading meeting up with her, as I know I will feel a fat frump. We don't have much money so I don't spend much on clothes, but from her photos I can see that she is very stylish. When I knew her she was always on a diet and going to the gym, and I haven't done any of that. Do I start a crash diet, or just accept that she'll think I look awful? Wwyd?

No, don’t start a crash diet. Crash diets are awful and don’t work anyway. If this woman is your friend, does it matter if you’re a bit overweight? Most people don’t give much thought to other people’s weight. You’re probably overestimating the extent to which she will notice and judge you for it. If she is the type of person who would judge, why would you want to meet her anyway?

If you feel unhealthy it’s a good idea to adopt a healthier and more active lifestyle but don’t do it just because of what your friend will think.
