Help I'm turning into egg shape!

I'm 48. On thyroid medication.
I've gained huge amounts of weight over the last 3 years since I've had thyroid cancer and had real problems getting my thyroid levels stable and correct.
I've always been apple shaped and a size14 to 16, usually more a 16 on the bottom. Am currently 14 on the top but a 20 on the bottom.
But I'm obviously approaching menopause and omg my weight has just piled onto my already pot belly and my already chubby thighs. Whilst I was miserably gaining weight it also went on everywhere else but not quite at the same speed.
So here I am currently correctly medicated for my thyroid after a hospital admission for a thyroid crash back in June. Since end of July my levels are as they should be.
I've been dieting/eating sensibly, with absolutely no crap for 2 months and enjoying having energy again so walking every day. On average I walk 5 to 8 miles every day this includes alot of hill walking.

On days i dont walk (rare) I do 45 to 60 minutes on my cross trainer and/or exercise bike. I do feel much fitter.

I've lost 18lbs. Dropped 2 bra sizes and back to a 14 on the top. Lost my double chins. Found my collar bone again. But between my belly button and knees remains a huge fat sagging wobbly bulge and it looks even worse now I'm slightly slimmer on the top. I'm turning into an egg shape 😭.

I have lower back problems and been advised against alot crunches/sit ups but to be honest the blubber I carry around there is so prolific a million sit ups a day wouldn't change the huge over hang. I could have the best toned muscles in there but all anyone will see is the huge bubble/literal tyre around my middle. It's like walking around with a bum bag around my tummy but it's just fat.

I have always had a tummy 9f some description being apple shaped and had a over hang since my 2nd and 3rd C sections 19/20 years ago. I know it won't ever go without surgery (Drs told me) but I want to shrink it back/reduce it so it's more in proportion to the rest of my body (as it was before my thyroid issues) & so I can at least see my feet again. My arse and thighs are also huge.

Please can anyone help. Im dieting and exercising but it's just not sitting between my belly button any knees. I really to look like an egg. ☹😢 What can I do??

I would be inclined to consult a (terribly wanky name sorry) Body Mechanic or sports therapist - the ones I know are highly trained and skilled in helping people. It might be that there are exercises that can help you, that you don't know about.

Sadly you can't target particular areas for fat loss - it has to be an overall approach and it seems for you your belly/arse/thighs is the last area to go.
For me it was my flabby bingo wings - took forever but in the end they got under control!

That's what I feared.

I suppose I just need to keep at it and at it.

Unfortunately crunches don't target fat loss - your body loses fat wherever it deems fit but only with a caloric deficit, usually - although hormones make it trickier unfortunately.

Do you track what you eat?
