What is a reasonable amount of weight to expect to loose in a week?

If you have 8 weeks to lose weight - what would you aim for per week in lbs?

thanks

first week youd lose loats, five or six pounds, but most of it would be water.
generally, the slower you lose the wieght, the more likely you are to keep it off. aim for no more than a pound, to a pound and a half a week.

what diet are you following?

BecauseImWereWolfit · 08/10/2007 20:26

After initial weight loss, which as wildpatch says can be quite considerable you should aim at 1-2 pounds per week (2 should be very doable IME). So I would have thought that you could aim at losing around a stone, if you really stick to whatever plan you're following.

kitsandbits · 08/10/2007 20:28

I would like to loose 2 stone all in all.

but have to aim for 1 stone by my wedding in december - as my dress is a 12 and i cant afford to have it taken in! lol

so will loose another after that (maybe- dependingon how i feel at 10 stone)

I want to be 10 stone too, shall we do it together? (am 11 now btw) It's my birthday in december so would like to be slimer by then.

I'm actually 11.3 today and I haven't been good this week! I am due to go to the gym with my friend on wed night but i'm full of cold so might put it off until next week I can't afford to join the gym and its a guest pass so i'll only get to go once so do want to make the most of it! I've got a tramploine in the garden which i really should be using more! It's hard when you feel ill though, i had the throat infection the other week and was just starting to feel better when this morning i got hit with this cold! Will try to eat less cake and biscuits and drink much more water.

What are going to do?

I'm going to aim to lose 2lbs per week (i know some weeks i won't manage it so if i roughly aim for that i may make it to 10stone by december!)

chalat · 08/10/2007 20:40

Then you have a very reasonable target and a wonderful motivation for achieving it, kitsandbits

To encourage you, someone else at our class lost less than a stone but lots of inches - the exercise works and it is a good diet, don't feel hungry on it because it's low gi and keeps you fuller longer. Feel so much healthier for it - go for it!

Btw, you can buy the book and just follow that, but actually the classes are very supportive and encouraging, which has helped me no end.

kitsandbits · 08/10/2007 20:41

Im going to ...not pig out on biccies like usual!

Seriously Im going to eat healthily - write down what i eat so i dont cheat.

Do my Davina DVD

When I lost weight before (before i got pg with dd2 I had to lose 1 stone so I could have an operation) I have never been into sports and do love my cakes etc so what I did was instead of snacking on rubbish i snacked on weetabix (very filling!) and whenever anyone in the office wanted something I went and got it for them, now i'm a childminder so get quite a bit of excercise from running round after the kids so if i could jsut cut out the crap I'd do ok i think. I was 13.8 stone when i had dd2 (she has just turned 2!!)

I know I will get there eventually!

dinny · 08/10/2007 20:43

get a ww calculator thing and track points like that - soo easy and motivating when you realise you have 7 points left to spend on wine like I just have!

BecauseImWereWolfit · 08/10/2007 21:31

And to make you feel better, you shouldn't train if you're ill anyway!
