Enough is enough - which couch to 5k app?

Right, it's September 14th - I'm fed up, too fat and not fit - I have been cycling over lockdown and not got back into the swing since late July, so I'm back on my bike today, changing eating habits, no more mid week alcohol and chocolate

Anyone tried and mastered any of the couch to 5k apps? Which is best for completely rubbish runners like me?

Ooh me! I have the zen labs c25k one. It’s orange in the App Store if that’s at all helpful
I like it because
Free
It allows me to play my music and will chime in with a lovely lady suggesting I walk and run when it’s time
She tells me when I’m Halfway Grin I love that bit.
You can pay for a version which tells you how far you’ve run and apparent calories but I don’t think that’s necessary. Tell me when to start and stop and we are good.
Good luck! About to do week 3 day 1!

I'm worrying about the sixty seconds of jogging bit 😱 I May actually do this first week in my garden! Albeit it's not that big I guess I can just do laps! Wish me luck!

Ok I just did it! Day 1 completed and I followed it all! That wasn't so bad after all! 😎

Well done! I used the zenlabs one the first time I did it, and the NHS one the second time. I LOVE running now, and run about 30km a week :)

custardbear · 14/09/2020 10:05

Thank you @OddestSock - I need some goals lol ... perhaps not 30k just yet 😆

@custardbear, not all in one go though ;) but honestly, I puffed my way through the first few runs when I started. I remember asking my husband if I'd ever consider running for half an hour an "easy" run, and he said I would. He was right!

I completed C25K last year OP. Didn't use any app...downloaded the podcasts from the NHS website. Good music and an encouraging voice to help you on your way. Honestly the best thing I've ever done! You'll be surprised how far you can run/jog. I'd be doing it again now but early pregnancy nausea preventing me at the moment!

KTD27 · 14/09/2020 18:37

Oh well done OP! Good for you
I cannot imagine I’m ever going to find running for 30 mins easy. But that’s the goal! (The running for 30 mins bit though I’d take easy too Grin )
