I am getting married on 1st December and need to lose about 2 stone, but would be happy with a stone.

I started a sort of diet yesterday, where i am having a bowl of cereal for breakfast and lunch and a main dinner, i am eating a chicken caesar salad for dinner, does anyone know if this is fattening?

And does anyone have any other ideas for a main meal, that is not fattening?

your help would be appreciated.

Thanks xx

The dressing on a caesar can be very high fat. Also tha calories from the croutons and cheese are pretty bad. What seems like an innocent salad can actually be quite fattening!

The cereal for breakfast and lunch option didn't work for me as I was always starving by dinnertime and would eat loads. Ideally you should be eating lots more for breakfast and lunch and having a smaller dinner.

Re dinners you want to have grilled / steamed fish or chicken with lots of veg. If you can you would be better off joining weight watchers or slimming world as they wil get you eating properly rather than crash dieting. That way the weight will stay off after the wedding.

Good luck on your big day

Hi bubbsy - I agree with Nikki. I had a chicken ceasar wrap for lunch last week thinking it would be low in weightwatchers points, but was amazed to find it was 9 points. I am only allowed 20, so it was like half my daily allowance.
The cereal diet is good for a quick start, but you may have to consider joining a slimming club to maintain after the wedding. Good Luck.

do you think just a plain chicken salad would be ok with some fat free dressing?

It is difficult to say, as I wonder whether you are eating enough. Going by weightwatchers points a bowl of cereal (about 45g) is 4 points, and I would normally allow 3 for chicken in a salad. Therefore, your daily intake providing you are not snacking in between meals is only 11 points. Obviously, it depends on how much you weigh and how much you have to lose, but I would say your calorie intake may be too low. What about adding a small portion of new potatoes?? This advice may be completely wrong, but I have been told in the past that sometimes you can cut out too much, and have an adverse effect of not losing any weight at all.
