Hi

I need to sort myself out, can anyone help?

I'm 5ft 7 and about 17.5 stone. I'm really starting to feel every pound, my knees hurt, I get heart burn and I'm at the mortifying point where sometimes I don't fit comfortably in chairs BlushSad.

I can't exercise brilliantly due to my knees. I have a condition that means squats, running even swimming are very uncomfortable. This is then made worse by the excess weight. I do enjoy walking though, and am up for trying something else!

Eating wise - I'm veggie. I love vegetables, enjoy home cooking - like pulses etc . My biggest downfall is snacking. I have allergies to most fresh fruits and veggies ( uncooked) but can eat salad - tomatoes, cucumber, salad leaves. I'm also very allergic to nuts. I really struggle to find healthy snacks for this reason. Can I do something to avoid snacking?

Drinking - I'm teetotal and probably don't drink nearly enough water, so this needs to change!

I would like to lose weight slowly and steadily if possible

Any tips would be great!

Weight loss is mostly diet and you can lose weight without exercising at all.

Work out your TDEE and reduce that calorie amount by 20% to find your daily calorie total.

tdeecalculator.net

Weigh and log everything, and I mean everything, on My Fitness Pal. It will help you decide what you can afford to eat. I couldn’t exercise due illness but have managed to lose over 2 stone by making better choices for the calories I have available. Some sandwiches can have more calories than a well portioned roast dinner!

As you are veggie & have allergies I can’t really advise because I eat lots of salmon, chicken, Greek yogurt & nuts. But I will say that I weigh every spread of butter and blob of mayonnaise, log every cup of tea, glass of milk or roast potato. It’s time consuming to begin with but gets very easy once you have your favourites logged.

Good luck!

Brilliant thanks @Fatherbrownsbicycle !

I actually used my fitness pal a few years ago and really liked it, had totally forgotten it existed so will download it again
