Fat vs skin

After losing weight my stomach is saggy and makes me feel fat even though my BMI is apparently healthy.

How can I test how much of it is fat and how much is skin? I don't mind losing more weight if it will help the appearance.

I do weight training and a lot of ab exercises which has trimmed my waist but made zero affect to the sag. :(

It hangs in folds when in plank position.

I’m in the same position @Clunkie. I’ve lost 10 pounds over the last few months, and I’m still unhappy with my belly. When I sit down the ripple that is left feels soft and empty. It also hangs when I do a plank. I think it must be fat as I’ve read if you can pinch an inch it will be fat not skin. I’ve lost weight all over and don’t want to lose too much more. Joked to DH earlier that soon I’ll be way out of proportion soon with a skinny frame, pot belly and a big alien head!

I can definitely pinch more than an inch, I can take handfuls of it! I'm a size 8-10 and although I could lose more weight, I know we can't spot reduce...

It's so frustrating isnt it :(

Mine is skin. When I wash my hair bending over the bath and glance in that direction it looks like an Austrian blind. Grin

That's what losing weight 40+ after three kids does!

I have been doing the Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 DVD and noticed that one of her helpers who has an amazing body has some skin that hangs a little when she is in plank. So I am in good company.

It might be too late, as you have already lost the weight, but losing it whilst in autophagy has been reported to 'use up' the extra.

It is very frustrating @Clunkie. I can grab a hold of a fair amount too. I’ve started to do Chloe Ting workouts on YouTube. HIIT exercises combing planks with stuff like jumping jacks to raise my heart rate. I’ve noticed some difference in my tummy since doing her videos. I’m nearly 40 so not sure if this is the best it will get now. I’m 5’6 and 8st 12 pounds, and according to NHS website have a good BMI. Overall I don’t think I need to lose weight, but if I want to get a flat tummy, I need to lose more belly fat. 🤔 The top half of my body is really slim now, but my dough ball tummy is very stubborn.

That is an accurate description @BalloonSlayer. 😄 I try not to look down anymore when I am in plank position. The hanging skin/blubber is very off putting.
I’ve already lost the majority of the weight I’d like to lose @DianaT1969, but thanks for the info. I scanned through it and saw the diet had a fasting element. Not sure if I could stick to something like that tbh. Struggling just to count calories at the moment.
