Why has lockdown made me gain so much weight?

I've always been slim but for the past few months the pounds have crept up. I've been 81/2 stone all my adult life, but now weigh just over 9.

I don't understand how it's happened. I'm walking daily as opposed to sitting in the office all day.
I'm cooking healthy meals as I'm home more and barely snacking. If I do it's just on fruit.

Has this happened to anyone else here?

Well, to gain weight you must have eaten more than you burned. So either the meals contain more calories than you realise or the walk isn’t is burning as much off as your day-to-day normal life would.

Hormonal changes is another option. How old are you? It is harder to stay slim as we age, most women say they have to eat fewer calories to maintain their weight once they hit their 40s.

I think usually when you are at the office, you forget to eat or don't have time for it. And our organism needs more energy to do some intellectual work than a physical one, maybe that the reason.

I have no idea why you are gaining weight but I have a great idea of how to loose it. If you have a blender I have a really good smoothie recipe I used to lose weight and it worked really well.
2 bananas
500ml milk
5 tablespoons of honey
It works really well at getting rid of body fat but you have to have it twice a day consistently for a few weeks. Although you don't need to replace your normal snacks with it just have it on the side.

@alicequartz exactly the same - I made a thread about this and got told I was mad for worrying about a few pounds but it’s quite a big difference and I couldn’t understand why.

Focalpoint · 28/07/2020 17:51

Are you drinking more?

NameChange84 · 28/07/2020 17:55

@Lulixx

That’s going to add considerably to the OPs caloric intake and is almost entirely sugar. Are you deliberately trying to make her fat?!

RNBrie · 28/07/2020 17:55

For me, it was lack of movement. I would easily do 10,000 steps a day commuting to the office, going out to pick up lunch, walking between meeting rooms etc. At home I was averaging just 2,000 a day and I gained weight pretty quickly at the start of lockdown. I'm now careful to get at least 10k a day, if not more and my weight has come down.

EleanorOalike · 28/07/2020 17:59

@Lulixx...that’s an extra 10,906 calories per week alone...is your name Cady Heron by any chance?

Op don’t listen to her!

alicequartz · 29/07/2020 06:18

@Focalpoint more alcohol?
No I don't drink at all.

@Lulixx I don't really like the thought of consuming so much honey at one time. The thought alone makes me feel I've gained another pound Grin
