Small Dinner plates-where to buy?

I need new plates and would like smaller ones than normal. Where can I buy nice ones online please? Preferably a set with side plates and bowls too.

Go to Amazon and search "small dinner plates" and "small plates for dieting."

Can you not just use a saucer/side plate?

SistemaAddict · 15/07/2020 19:05

A saucer? 😱 I have got my posh plates that I save for special occasions and they have small side plates and larger plates that I've no idea what they are for but we use for cake at birthdays. Ds is now moving on from his melamine plate but his portion looks lost on our regular dinner plates. I also want smaller plates for me to help with portion sizes. The dc would benefit from smaller bowls as they have huge portions of cereal.

My dessert plates are 22cm across with a flat area of 14.5cm. The dinner plates have an inner area of 18cm so not massively different but they seem it to look at.

Charity shops (when you can) - 60s/70s/early 80s dinner sets.

Just buy salad or side plates - they tend to be about 21cm across vs. a 27cm dinner plate. That's what we use but only because our dinner plates don't fit in our ancient dishwasher

SistemaAddict · 16/07/2020 13:10

I'm going to start using the desert plates. They aren't really for every day use as it's my best china but sod it.

"Breakfast plate" is the term you need to search for. They are typically 8" diameter rather than 6" for a side plate or 10" for a dinner plate.

Sometimes called salad plates also, as a PP said.
