How much weight have people lost by just cutting out alcohol?

I have come to the realisation that it is definitely my wine intake that has taken me to 12.5 stone over lockdown. I eat well, loads of vegetables. However I do need to cut down on my carb intake, the size of pasta portions etc. Dog walk daily, power walks and some yoga, so not inactive but should really try to do more cardio or weights. But I really think its giving up my 2/3 glasses of red daily that may help to make a difference. Anyone got any experience of just how much weight can be lost by just giving up Alc? I'm on a sober day 2

Yes I definitely lost weight by not drinking.
You can lose weight without really trying if you cut out sugar and alcohol.

@livefornaps yes I definitely do not feel European or chic when I'm in my clothes at the moment. It's not every night I drink but over lockdown it basically is. I really am going to try to stop completely as really need to lose the weight.

Day 50 sober here. I've lost nearly a stone, but that's mainly due to keeping on calories around 1200 and doing a lot of exercise. Sadly I don't thinking cutting the booze does it alone, but it certainly helps.

I quit drinking six weeks ago and have lost 6lbs (which I needed to lose - I’ve still been eating pizza/not watching what I eat which will be the next step!)

Thanks all, definitely encouraging replies! Just starting day 5 no alcohol, feeling fresh in the mornings already @Cyllie33 me too, I feel like once I have the alc intake under control then I can really concentrate on eating well and exercise.
