I started yesterday so it's very, very new. It's been hard so far as I have a toddler who is lovely and likes to share food! I've said the doctor said I've just got to keep to mine as I remember how hard the first week or two were.

I did nearly 10 years ago and lost a considerable amount (just under 5st) unfortunately I didn't have the will power to continue it at the time, I was young and met a boyfriend with a completely different lifestyle but that is definitely on me.

I'm set on making a real life change for myself this time and lose around 8st but will be happy if I can lose 4st by Christmas as a short term goal.

It would be wonderful if there was a support thread for it on here. How are you doing?

Hi WhimsyWoo I've just found your post and wonder if you'll get this message as it's from last July!! Just wondered how you got on with LL as I'm thinking of starting it. Did you manage to keep it up and if so how much weight did you lose over what period of time? Would you recommend it?

Hi catch - I did LL earlier this year, and it really really works! I lost 2.5 stone in three months, then another half stone in a month. (BMI went from 32 to 26).

I did LL for about six weeks, and found the counselling sessions I did very helpful. But then I got pissed off with how expensive it was AND that they do automated card payments which I didn't realise (I thought I'd paid for a 2 month block, but they kept taking my money!) so investigated and started with Exante, which is much cheaper and has much nicer food, IMHO. (I really struggled with the LL food - all fairly grim).

It is tough, I'm not going to lie, but it is probably the easiest strict diet I've ever done, and much easier to stay on track - there is NO scope for cheating/not counting - I just ate their meals only and nothing else except water and black coffee passed my lips. And the joy was how quickly the weight fell off - which made it totally worth it.

It's now six months since I stopped and went back to normal eating, and I'm now at BMI 24.5, and have a whole new attitude to life and food. I wish I'd done it years ago.

I think it's a really good way of doing things if you are obese and want to lose weight quickly, and are prepared to be really strict with yourself.

Its very similar to the Fast 800 in terms of effects and physiology, (you're on 800 cals a day on LL) - Fast800 is possibly a bit cheaper but in terms of convenience and brainpower, I found the meal replacements so much easier (see above re calorie counting).

There is a Fast800 support thread somewhere which was really helpful to me.

Hi Santa - sorry for some reason I didn't get an e-mail saying you'd replied and have only just noticed a notification from you on this page. I've cheated a bit and bought a massive box of LL from a lady on e-bay who has also given loads of helpful tips. Day 1 of LL today and it tastes really nice so I'll carry on. Struggling to drink all the water though but will get as much down me as I can. I managed to lose 5lb last week on my own by eating - well, hardly anything, but with all this LL food at least I know I'll be getting the vitamins and minerals etc. I know I can do this as my 'head is in the right place'. Whether it stays in the right place remains to be seen!! Thank you so much for replying - very useful as I need to be motivated by success stories. Thankyou!!
