What else can I do to lose a stone in 6 weeks?

We officially have a wedding date that is exactly 6 weeks away (soooo excited!!). I'd love to look my best for the pictures so I'm starting a strict diet/workout regime. I'm not entirely sure if losing a stone in this time is realistic but anything is better than nothing! Main goal is to lose weight, tone up my arms, legs and belly as well as losing a few inches off my waist. My initial plan is:

  • Intermittent fasting (16:8)
  • Cardio/HIIT 4 times a week and toning exercises 2 times a week
  • cut down on my sugar, salt and carb intake
  • drink 2L of water every day

Is there anything else I can do to maximise my results that maybe worked for you or for someone you know?

I would do full keto I think, with IF after the first couple of weeks. I’m on week 3 and have lost just over a stone without really trying. I am converted!

It’s tough going for the first few days, but you have a goal and something to aim towards which I think will help a lot.

@TeddyIsaHe that's actually a good idea. I've looked into this and tried it before but I really struggled with calculating my carb/protein/fat ratios. How did you get started and what helps you keep track of it? Well done on your progress! 🤩

Tbh I haven’t been counting my macros, I’m v lazy! Just making sure my plate is mostly fat, some protein and some green veg, it hasn’t stalled any weight loss at all. Carb Manager is a good app to help count though.

Reddit (r/keto and r/UKketo) are both really good resources. The low carb boot camp on here is also full of really knowledgable people as well.

I would suggest swapping your exercise around, so toning 4 times a week and cardio 2 times a week. If you are wanting to lose weight and tone up in 6 weeks this may be more beneficial.

I would do an 800 cal a day diet (if you are fit and well, and meet the criteria). There are meal replacement ones (Exante, Lighter Life, Shake that Weight etc) which take all the thinking out of it or you can DIY (e.g. by following the Fast800 diet - Dr Michael Mosely).

You don't say what weight you are, but most people lost about a stone in the first month (I think they tend to be overweight). I lost nearly two stone in six weeks, but I was a BMI >30 when I started. They are hard to do, and are definitely not for everyone (and may be unsafe for some - do your research first) but if you're suitable and sufficiently motivated it could work. I wish I'd discovered them 4 years ago and saved myself four years of misery.
