Breastfeeding and calorie counting but not losing

Hi 👋🏼
I have a 4.5 week old baby. Initially I lost about 20lbs (a stone and a half) in the first couple weeks. It fell off. However since then- nothing.
For the past 2 weeks I have been calorie counting and exclusively BFing. I have been quite generous with my calories. About 1800 a day as I don't want to affect my supply and I thought that would be few enough!

I haven't lost an ounce in 2 weeks. Has anyone else had this? I can't do any exercise yet other than walk as I had a section and a subsequent infection.

I've seen some articles after googling that make it sound like a common problem. Any advice or solutions you've found??

if youve lost 20lbs in 4 and a half weeks, thats v fast, i wouldnt worry about going any faster..just stick with it, eat healthy not just looking at calories but making sure theyre from the right types of healthy foods, until u are up and about and moving more then your calorie burn will pick up.

I was one of those women who not only didn't lose baby weight while breastfeeding but also to their periods back right away ....

20lbs is a lot and likely a lot of it was water weight.

I did slimming world while breastfeeding and that helped. However, I've found for me that I didn't shift the last of my baby weight until I was down to 1 or 2 feeds a day

I think it was after weight too. And baby and guys and stuff 😂.

Interestingly, with my last baby I got my periods back after 4 months, but I BF'd for 9 months. Wonder if there's something to that!

I had the same problem!!

I've got half a stone to lose and no matter what I do I can't lose it!
I was breastfeeding at the time and I ate really healthily for 3 weeks and exercised and didn't lose a pound! So annoying.

Just stopped breastfeeding now so will have to try again.

I found my weight loss whilst breastfeeding came in fits and starts, the first stone fell off and I stayed the same weight for sometime before losing more without me trying, I was still breast feeding DD at 6 months and I was eating non stop because I couldn’t keep weight on. I tapered feeding off when she was around 14 months, I gained a few pounds and levelled off. Could you be restricting your calories too much?

Honestly? You have a newborn. Be kind to yourself. Stay away from the scales. Eat healthy foods and spend your down time googling baby related things. Don't obsess over weight loss.

I'm trying to be kind to myself but I just feel so shit. My second section has left me with a massive overhang. I'm 2.5 stone heavier than I was before kids and I just feel awful
