I need to loose at least a stone, maybe a bit more. The weight only bothers me slightly and more concerned with fitness over weight. I am 58, have stopped smoking four weeks ago, and am on week three of c25k. This is after years of of not doing any exercise although very avtive in my job. I don't think I'm ready to diet and give up drinking just yet, but would love some ideas of little things I can do which will head me in the right direction. My downfall is red wine, bread and savoury snacks.

  • swap ice cream for low calorie ice cream, frozen yoghurt or sorbet
  • monitor how much oil you use in your cooking: boil, steam, dry bake, air fry etc instead
  • black coffee no sugar
  • confine drinking or treats to certain days (wine only on Saturdays and no cheese Mon-Thu in our house!)
  • drink more water
  • swap alcoholic drinks to less calorific options (clear spirits with tonic or soda)

Thanks, I don't eat ice cream, I only drink water, no juice or soft drinks. I will start cutting out milk in coffee, although only have two a day. I do have an air fryer, but admit I do use a bit of garlic and chilli oil for flavour. I will have to look at drinks, I hate with a passion diet mixers, so although I love a g & t it has to be regular tonic. But I will have to do something so might have to wean myself onto diet drinks. I drink maybe two bottles or red wine a week unless we are out, other than that it is water.

Good gin with good tonic with lots of fruit and ice is my go to!
Maybe get a garlic and chili spice blend for you to use in the air fryer without oil. 2 bottles of wine is about 1300 calories, you could have 10 or 11 slimline g&ts for that!
