I am struggling, although I am not careful enough with what I eat. I didn't really lose the weight after DS (now 2) and I feel I should make more of an effort now that DD is 6 months. In the back of my mind I just think that I may have another and I'll make an effort after that, but thats not good either.

Good luck to you.

maisemor · 27/09/2007 15:11

With the first one I lost it all quite quickly.

With the second one 3 1/2 years later I am still struggling .

took me eighteen months at a rate of just one pound per month..slow but it has stayed off. what worked for me as cutting out carbs in the evening meal

NAB3 · 07/10/2007 13:21

6 months with number 1. 12 months with number two and still haven't with number 3 who is 2 and 3 months. Trying properly though now and have lost 2lbs in 2 weeks so far.

I'm still a stone overweight and DS now 9 months old. However, I have NO discipline. Could have shifted it by now if I didn't eat too much toast

BecauseImWereWolfit · 07/10/2007 13:26

Can't remember with ds1. With DS2 - 10 days.

No idea how/why - didn't put much weight on (less than a stone I think - although he was a month early) - and didn't do anything (apartfrom breastfeeding) to lose the weight.

BecauseImWereWolfit · 07/10/2007 13:27

But in case you think I'm smug, it was after having children that I piled on the weight! I've lost a stone but am still half a stone away from the weight I was then.

After DD1 I got back down to my pre-pg weight within three or four months, without any effort. Though the weight had redistributed a bit.

DD2 is 9 months old and I'm still a stone heavier than I was before I became pregnant with her.

I used to be a gym bunny and watch what I ate though, BC. Now I live on chocolate and leftover fishfingers.

nikkid21 · 09/10/2007 08:28

After DS it took a year and that was only because I have PCOS and my gp said that I wouldn't fall pregnant until I was under 12 stone (i'm 5ft9 with size 9 feet so that's fairly slim for me).

DD is now 3 and i'm on slimming world with two stone to lose to get down to 12st again. I don't think that many of us 'real' mums can expect to snap straight back in to shape after pregnancy. We don't have the luxury of having our meals delivered and a personal trainer unlike Liz Hurley and Posh.

Summerfruitfullofscaryworms · 09/10/2007 08:37

But anyway do you really think it's possible to go back to the same weight we were before children ??

lizziemun · 09/10/2007 09:15

DD1 is 3y 10mths and i am still not back to my pregancy weight.

I put on 3 stone with her, but i did lose 19lbs when i had dd2 4 weeks ago. But i still have about 4 stone to lose.

suwoo · 09/10/2007 09:30

4 months with DD. DS is nearly 10 months and I lost it within 6 months but didn't try that hard, however just under a stone crept on due to eating bloody kids leftovers and butter on toast etc. However, I just cut out all that crap, and have lost 7.5lb in 1 week

suwoo · 09/10/2007 09:32

To summerfruit, it is definately possible to get back to pre-pregnancy weight, although I find like someone else said, the weight can be re-distributed.....bizarre!

Screaminglips · 09/10/2007 09:36

gave birth in oct 04, 10 months later and i lost 4 stones!!...since then ive put back on 1.5 stones and seems to stick on that weight.
