I am struggling with the last stone, which is now more like a stone and a half since lockdown 🙄
What one single thing did you which most helped with weight loss?
Drinking more water?
Cutting out bread?
???
Thanks

Reduce carbs and alcohol.

Northernsoullover · 14/06/2020 08:28

Gave up booze.

oohnicevase · 14/06/2020 08:28

Getting thr right medication for my thyroid
Giving up dairy
Giving up alcohol
Giving up sweetners
Drinking 6 glasses of water a day
Slimming world
Cycling
Doing 16/8 so only eating lunch and dinner ( did this anyways)
Have lost weight in isolation and I'm not sure which one helped the most but I think the dairy and sweetners has helped the most

MonsteraCheeseplant · 14/06/2020 08:30

Using the TDEE calculator (free, googleable) to work out how many calories I burn in an average day, subtracting 500 a day and using My Fitness Pal to ensure that I eat to that calorie deficit.

Mintjulia · 14/06/2020 08:37

Run.

It has taken me 9 years but I’ve finally got to the point I enjoy it. And in lockdown it has kept me sane.

VaTeLaverLesMains · 14/06/2020 08:42

Don't buy crap. Don't eat or drink crap. Drink less alcohol.

oohnicevase · 14/06/2020 08:45

Sorry my post made no Sense.. I meant I think it is most likely the dairy that has made the most difference .. oh and I don't eat meat anyways .

Standrewsschool · 14/06/2020 08:46

Two chings.

  1. changing from cereal to porridge with fruit. Cereal has a huge amount of hidden sugar in it.
  2. limiting carbs to one meal a day.
Standrewsschool · 14/06/2020 08:46

Things, not chings

RubyDreamsOfRainbows · 14/06/2020 08:48

I lost 3.5kg in a month when I joined up with an online coach. I'd lost 1.5 stone over the previous year on my own but had stopped seeing progress - especially in lockdown.

£95 for 28 days - nutrition advice (calorie target, macro ratio, load of bumpf about food choices and mindset), 4x Facebook live HIIT sessions a week, contact for support via FB and about 3hrs of recorded advice/encouragement via video.

It really helped to make the changes I needed to. Now I'm carrying on my own again. Sticking to the nutrition side of things and training with You Tube videos 💪

Low carb/ cutting out alcohol or just having Gin & slimline .

Ragwort · 14/06/2020 08:48

I can lose weight .... all methods work if you follow them.

What I find hard is to maintain the weight loss because I always drift back to my previous habits.

My most successful weight loss in recent years Is by following Low Carb & using the support on the Low Carb Boot Camp threads. I lost two and a half stone two years ago but put it all back on; I have restarted LC and doing well so far ... and just hope I have the willpower to keep the weight loss off this time.

dudsville · 14/06/2020 08:49

I'm calorie counting and weighing nearly daily. Weighing in after days when I've exercised loads (I don't eat those calories) always shows a reduction in weight.

Treacletoots · 14/06/2020 08:49

I can't diet for longer than one day at a time and DH and I both lost a stone each on this in a month and it stayed off, remarkably.

MilkRunningOutAgain · 14/06/2020 08:51

Reduced portion sizes a bit. Permanently.

KellyHall · 14/06/2020 08:52

Cutting out processed food.

Putting a maximum of half my usual portion on my plate/in my bowl, then stopping eating once I'm no longer hungry (not when I'm feeling full or when I've eaten all of my food).

MrsTidyHouse · 14/06/2020 08:54

Food and activity diary.

Strictly limiting carbs, sugar, any processed food.
Large green salad with main meal.
Lots of water, tea without milk.

Needanotherholiday · 14/06/2020 08:56

Two things - exercise and learning more about food and nutrition. Don't deny yourself anything - you need carbs and fats in your diet to function and for weight loss to be sustainable. It's all about moderation and better choices.

EverythingBlue2020 · 14/06/2020 08:57

Not eating after 5pm - 6pm worked great for me. That's what I'll be doing after baby is born next month. Alongv
with meticulous calorie counting.

TwentyViginti · 14/06/2020 09:02

What do you eat during your eating window? Anything you fancy, when you fancy it? Or two good meals, no snacks?
piscis · 14/06/2020 09:05

Intermittent fasting and low carb combined. Lost 2 stones sooooo easily.
Now I do two meals a day, I make sure I don't eat for at least 14-16 hours of the day (I basically skip breakfast), and eat whatever I want with those two meals. I try not to drink too much alcohol or sugar though, definitely not every day.
You should read The Obesity Code, it is about your insulin levels and you can control that to a point with what you eat and WHEN you eat

OhioOhioOhio · 14/06/2020 09:09

Yeah stopped drinking.

Herdwick · 14/06/2020 09:18

Eating less, mainly by tracking with my fitness pal and being very honest. It got me into some good habits that I stuck with long after I stopped needing to track.

Those good habits were generally just smaller portions, or swapping (Most of) the carbs for salad or extra veg on the side instead. Also basically had to stop snacking entirely.

I can still drink alcohol but it does lead to over eating and needing more stodgy food the next day.

Exercise tones you up and makes you look better but it's not that efficient for weight loss.

PurBal · 14/06/2020 09:23

Drinking only water. Cut out all other drinks including juices and low calorie squash and fizzy drinks.

Lurchermom · 14/06/2020 09:24

@fluffygreenmonsterhoody

Using MyFitnessPal - and using it honestly!
