Experiences here...

How much weight did you lose before people noticed?

I’ve posted before that I lost 10lbs last summer (and have kept it off) and no one really noticed because I was thin anyway.

Anyone else?

I've lost a stone and a half since the beginning of May but I havent seen anyone for them to notice. My son and my partner havent noticed, but they see me every day.

PumpkinP · 14/06/2020 00:21

I’m pretty big and it took me to lose 3 stone before anyone noticed. Still got a lot to go. Most people won’t notice 10lbs no matter your size.

Thanks @Neptunesgiraffe @PumpkinP that helps!

I went from 11.5 to 9.5 stone over 4 months was the talk of the town! Very noticeable friends and acquaintances noticed several contacted me privately to ask how

DottieLottie1 · 14/06/2020 06:22

I lost 2st before anyone noticed, 13 st to 11st (5ft 9) going from a large 16 to a 12. I was actively trying to lose weight but hadn't told anyone. As soon as it was noticed nearly everyone was asking me if I was ok! I went on to lose another 2 st (size 8) so 4st over 6 months. I'm asked alot how I managed it.

NameChangerSpaceRanger · 14/06/2020 06:35

How did you manage it???

NOTANUM · 14/06/2020 06:42

I also want to know how you managed it!

MimosaFields · 14/06/2020 06:57

I lost a stone when I changed my diet to extremely low carb. No sugar, no potatoes, no grains, no cereals. Everyone noticed.

MsTSwift · 14/06/2020 09:53

Intermittent fasting
Stopped scoffing crisps and biscuits every day
Turbo daily
Booze weekends only
Normal meals on smaller plate

VaTeLaverLesMains · 14/06/2020 09:55

I get negative comments if I lose more than about 10lbs. But it's usually because I'm not well.

IllustriousToad · 14/06/2020 10:09

I lost 25kg.... IME people did notice but many wouldn't say anything as they didn't want it to be awkward. It would only be once I mentioned it that they said something!

PumpkinP · 14/06/2020 11:47

That’s a good point, sometimes people do notice and won’t say anything. I was a size 20 so that’s why it took me to lose 3 stone before anyone noticed (or commented). The smaller you are I think the quicker people notice.

PicklePig31 · 14/06/2020 18:33

Thanks everyone.

@PumpkinP you say that... but I was a size 8 and tall before... literally no one noticed 10lbs even though I could tell/my clothes felt looser.

I think it depends where there weight is lost from. It's more noticeable when people lose it from around their faces I think.

FWIW, I don't comment on peoples weight loss/gain unless they've specifically mentioned they're trying to lose/gain weight and I have noticed.

HH160bpm · 14/06/2020 19:15

I’m not sure anyone would notice a 10lb loss on an adult of any height or weight. Unless it took someone from very slim to worryingly underweight.

PumpkinP · 14/06/2020 20:26

I think it’s because the smaller you are the bigger percentage of your overall body weight you will lose. I also found out the other day that the smaller the dress size the less inches it is between dress size so the smaller you are the quicker you will go down a dress size. Which explained why after losing 3 stone I only went from a size 20 to a size 18! Whereas usually it’s roughly a stone between dress sizes the smaller you get. But as others have said 10lbs won’t be that noticeable on most people anyway.

@NameChangerSpaceRanger, low calorie no more than 1200 sun-thursday and then a mini blowout fri and sat including takeaway. I cut down on alcohol rather than cut it out completely but just adjusted calorie intake to allow. I walk a lot too. It works for me and i fid its sustainable.
