I've lost ten pounds in two and a half!

I'm so so delighted. I've been doing nothing except having no more than 1200 calories a day.

The first week I was really hungry, the next week I was less hungry, and this week I've been managing fine on three meals and tiny snacks.

I feel so motivated that I'm seeing the scales move. I have about 3 stone left to loose before I'll be at a comfortable weight again.

Well done!

Microwaveoven · 28/05/2020 19:45

This is fantastic! Well done. I need to lose 2 stone. There is still a mental block there though. I need to bash down that first. Did you find you had a block before starting? It's like I won't let myself be healthy.

I hope it continues for you. You should be very proud of yourself for making the massive leap. Smile

Immigrantsong · 28/05/2020 19:45

Well done!

hermionegrange · 28/05/2020 19:47

@Microwaveoven oh my goodness, yes. I knew I had to do something but just couldn't get motivated to start.

I think once you see a little change on the scales your whole mentality changes doesn't it? I'm not eating after my dinner anymore, because I'm already excited to get on the scales when I wake up the next morning 😁

Well done! As it starts to plateau keep going and start weighing yourself weekly, it will still be working, just slower over time.
You can add some weight training in to boost your metabolism to keep it going 👍🏻

babychange12 · 28/05/2020 19:55

Well done op!
Do you mind sharing your meal plans? What do you eat in a day typically?

Microwaveoven · 28/05/2020 20:02

Yes, you are right. I think seeing the numbers go down would help me keep motivated. It's taking the plunge that is hard. I need to do it though. I also need to start exercising again. I have really let myself go and I don't feel like myself anymore. Always so sluggish and tired.

I have a UTI at the moment and have lost 1lb because I can't eat it hurts so much. Antibiotics are kicking in now so hopefully will feel better soon. I should carry on though!

What have you been eating? I find it only takes a few days of eating less and my stomach shri ks and I don't need to eat as much as I normally do.

hermionegrange · 28/05/2020 20:03

I'm not sure I should share because I'm not always eating healthy foods!

Today I had a bowl of Krave and semi skimmed milk for breakfast, tuna and sweetcorn and some rice for lunch, and then roasted a chicken and had it with salad and balsamic glaze for tea.

I've also had a skinny latte and an orange Kit Kat 😁

We had home made yuk sung for dinner last night which I'll definitely make again. The night before that we did meat skewers on the bbq and had with a cous cous salad. It's nice having time to plan meals properly too, and click and collect shopping means I'm only buying things for meals and less for snacks

That's the beauty of calorie counting though, you can have ANYTHING. Your food sounds lovely.

Ohwowanother · 28/05/2020 20:19

Well done op!

I am a little further along my journey than you and I have lost 2 stone with a stone to go. Doing the same as you and just calorie counting. As a pp said I now weigh myself weekly as my weight loss has slowed down but still losing so all good. It is the most amazing feeling. I have not weighed this little in 9 years (thanks to 3 DC).

Keep up the good work and always have a little treat a day it keeps you going 😀

Microwaveoven · 28/05/2020 22:19

OP I am off to bed but I just wanted to say this had been 'food for thought'!!
Will wake up tomorrow with a fresh head on and start my journey.
Thanks

applemango9 · 28/05/2020 23:37

Well done OP! May I know which app you are using for calculating any calories?

hermionegrange · 29/05/2020 09:56

@Microwaveoven Brilliant Grin I think the hot weather helps too as salads are much more appealing!

I'm using MyFitnessPal to track calories

Can i recommend you add fasting in OP as I’m concerned your metabolism will adapt if you continue to eat 1200 and nothing more. Then your quit losing, get pissed off and the weight will go back on.

If you google the link between fasting and metabolism you’ll see that your metabolism continues to run high throughout. Something like 16:8 or alternate day fasting would work really well for you alongside eating at a deficit 👌

hermionegrange · 30/05/2020 09:55

So keep eating 1200 calories a day, and every day only eat between 10am - 6pm for example?

I'm breastfeeding, will that affect it?

OP posts:
justanotherneighinparadise · 30/05/2020 09:58

Oh that changes things. No I wouldn’t fast while breast feeding. Make sure you are eating enough to sustain that as that’s the most important thing!!

hermionegrange · 30/05/2020 10:01

I'm eating three meals a day and healthy snacks at the moment. I think I'll be breastfeeding for a while yet. I plan to up my exercise too, and I'm going to look into weight training as someone on here recommended that as a way to boost metabolism too.
