Apologies for the terrible title but I wanted to encapsulate the boss and how supportive everyone is.

I'm sure @sunshinecake. I still think of things that happened in my previous marriage, so I realise it's easier said than done.

I look about 6m pregnant at the moment, but no, it goes flat laid down. I need to start cutting out the gluten, but I have no incentive!

I thought I would go on the bike and cycle as far as I have walked today. Couldn't understand why every time I checked the number had increased as I wasn't walking, I was cycling. Apparently when your phone is in your back pocket and you are cycling it counts as if you are walking Grin.

I use a firming moisturiser in my tummy and I do think it makes a difference. My head is back in the game and I will be running tomorrow, cycling on days I don't run and if I want treats I have to buy them via the cycling. It won't be 100% possible right now to avoid everything I am intolerant to as dh has bought me a double decker and I've been looking forward to it for days but I will try and do much better. No bread is a good start along with no pasta. I made a lovely cheese sauce today for ds and I would love that tomorrow but I will resist.

Go you :)

How are you @RubySlippers77? Been thinking of you....and all the others too.

RubySlippers77 · 18/05/2020 23:20

@SunshineCake I think you are doing amazingly for someone who was so ill not very long ago!! Plenty of nourishing food and the occasional treat and being kind to yourself is the way forward... plus lots of fresh air with your lovely dog Smile I'm really sorry that your DH's hurtful words/ actions have stuck with you. As you know, my DP can be astonishingly tactless and still makes plenty of digs at me about my weight. I tend not to listen though as he's 20+ stone himself Shock

Delicious looking food @fallfallfall!

How incredibly annoying @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 - I'm sure our neighbour has been breaking lockdown rules too but I can't quite get a proper look into their garden to prove it. I just have no idea why people would be so selfish, and yet should they get ill I'm sure they'll be straight to A&E demanding treatment Angry

I am exhausted @MrsJonesAndMe... and my internet seems to go on the blink every time I finally get chance to sit down and reply to messages... very annoying!! And I have to decide tomorrow whether or not to send the DC back to school. I still don't know what to do Hmm

fallfallfall · 19/05/2020 01:52

Keep up the good work sunshine.
I caved to 1 tea with milk and sugar and will end up with a scone and jam most likely.
But I’m getting more steps in with less pain at night. I weeded the remaining veggie bed.
ruby I hate when my internet acts up, which it occasionally does due to the hills around me and the rockwool insulation my hubby had put in.
My dd was going over the school thing in her mind/with me as well. In her situation I recommended she send them in.

MrsJonesAndMe · 19/05/2020 06:55

@RubySlippers77 I would say yes in your situation - you need the break. If they don't like it/don't get on with it, then you could always pull them.
Have they given you some details about what their school day might look like?

SunshineCake · 19/05/2020 12:29

Well. I have naughty lines today.

I was so tired I went up to bed at 9.15 and felt I needed something so I ate a creme egg then went to sleep Hmm.

This morning I woke up still really tired but I went out with the dog for two hours, have pegged out two wash loads, put away food shopping, washed up, made a huge batch of breadsticks and I am about to have a big bowl of home made vegetable soup and yes, I will have a couple of breadsticks as they are yummy and so easy to make.

Hope everyone else is okay. I've been coughing today but mainly just feel tired.

(@RubySlippers77 please don't let your partner make digs about your weight anymore. If he does, make sure the next meal is a huge plate of veg and then say well you said....If you don't know what to do re schools then don't do anything. Maybe see how the first week goes? Mine are year 10 and 12 and the older one said she isn't going back but we will see. Won't be before June 8th.

*@fallfallfall I already knew I probably need new glasses but since I read your comment that you wee'd in the veggie bed ShockBlush.

RubySlippers77 · 19/05/2020 15:10

I bought a DAB radio and a landline phone at the start of lockdown to not be as dependent on the internet @fallfallfall, but sadly I do need it for most things, it's very frustrating!

I've told school that I'd like the DC to go back if they have space for two @MrsJonesAndMe - I'm not sure how it will work in the 'new normal' (I don't think the school are yet either!) - although if the DC don't like it we're free to remove them anyway, which is sensible.

Had an over the phone assessment for DS1 earlier and went over my ASD concerns. The nursery nurse was lovely and I actually had a little cry afterwards that she hadn't just fobbed me off as the last HV did! She's going to post me a further assessment to do and call me next week to discuss it.

Blimey @SunshineCake, I think your creme egg was well deserved!! With regard to DP, I heard a really useful phrase on MN - 'don't absorb, just observe' which I try to remember when dealing with him. Yes, I need to lose a bit of weight but then I don't drink 4000 calories in a weekend like he does! Does your DP have any idea that his (tactless) comment affected you so much? It sounds like a completely unnecessary thing to say Angry

Spent £160 today on new glasses Sad my current pair broke so the optician offered me a new frame for £50 (reusing the lenses) or two pairs for £90, then I had to pay extra for my high prescription lenses + postage. There was a beautiful pair for £40 more but I couldn't really justify the extra money, plus I had a sneaking suspicion that they made me look a bit like Su Pollard circa 1985, not helped by my current lockdown-affected hairstyle...

(I'm sure Su is a lovely lady but it's not usually the look I aim for!!)

RubySlippers77 · 19/05/2020 18:52

!!!!Socks alert!!!!

25% off at Tu till Monday... I will be shopping once the DC are finally in bed Grin

SunshineCake · 19/05/2020 19:10

Just back from a walk with my dog. It is sooooo hot.

Me and dh fell out and I am not fully over it but there's no more to be said. Regarding the weight comment, he knows.

I'm melting.

Sorry. Not to say more. I'm

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 19/05/2020 20:17

Really hot here too @SunshineCake and due to be hotter tomorrow. Have filled up DDs paddling pool so it can warm up in the morning ready to cool her down in the afternoon tomorrow when she starts to hit the hyper phase of the day.

Got a lovely email from work today giving us all the day off on Friday so we can have a 4 day weekend in acknowledgement of how hard it's been recently which was great news.

Our local garden centre opens tomorrow so now planning a trip Friday to get some bits and bobs, hoping I can find an established blueberry bush and some strawberry plants. The ones I have already have some nice big green strawberries on but it would be nice to have loads as DD is a bit of a fiend when it comes to berries.

Flowers have started coming out on the tomato plants too although the birds/mice did a good job of decimating one of my plants, grrrrr!

MrsJonesAndMe · 19/05/2020 20:21

Oh that's lovely @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50

Great stuff @RubySlippers77 on the school and the nurse. Our school sent a 5 page document today about how it will all work and I'm sort of glad DS won't be going (not in the year groups mentioned) as it all sounds a bit rigid and strange, but depends on your school's capacity and outlook. Don't go mad on the socks Wink I bought some PJs as mine all have holes Blush

Very warm, so well done for getting out @SunshineCake

Thinking of you all x

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 19/05/2020 20:30

@MrsJonesAndMe we had a call from school today laying out the plans and asking if we'd be sending DD in, we've said no.

She's year 1, they will be:

  • cutting classes into groups of 8-13 kids
  • assigning each group a classroom and teacher they will stay in that classroom all day. No assemblies, PE etc
  • having a 15min morning and afternoon break outside just that group on a schedule, no sharing the playground with other groups
  • lunch in the classroom
  • teacher will be at front of class with kids behind the line at desks, limited physical interaction between teacher and kids. They've never had desks before always been carpet based activities with tables and chairs available if they want to use them rather than having to be at them all day.
  • all soft and porous/malleable toys removed - sandpits, water table, playdough, cuddly toys, beanbags....

For the sake of a few weeks it doesn't seem like a nice experience and we'd rather not risk making her dislike school. She's happy at home with us and we're coping with work and parenting even though it's hard so just gonna see it through.

SunshineCake · 20/05/2020 13:31

Hello all Smile.

That sounds like the right decision, *@MrsJonesAndMe regarding not wanting your dd to be put off school.

I feel quite fretful about going shopping and said no when dh said I could go get the salad I said I'd be going out for if it was normal life. Instead 8 am sat here eating homemade soup on a really hot day.

I slept really badly and then dosed back off once dh got up so didn't get out of bed until 8am which wasn't my plan. I have asked dh to make sure I'm up tomorrow as I think it is going to be hot today.

We have agreed to ds buying a car as it looks like he will go to the house we have to pay for regardless once he is allowed and wants the safety of a car for coming home. I'm disappointed the landlord hasn't been more understanding, and worried about ds driving, but I guess I will just have to hope for the best.

I think every family has to do what is right for them @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 We haven't got the option to return, so it's out of our hands and makes life easy in that regard.

Hope you feel better @SunshineCake I cooked everyone curry for tea Hmm Not the best plan, but did also buy ice cream.

Food still mostly crap, but I've got a lot on my mind. Did a walk/play football and my yoga.

Night all.

Hope @fallfallfall @Foreverlexicon and @TheRealHousewife are OK. Better day @RubySlippers77?
And how are things @Galvantula?

SunshineCake · 20/05/2020 19:16

We had corned beef hash for tea as I suggested it as an option yesterday and fussy eater dd said yes so I did it. To be fair no one complained but I miss salad.

I've just cycled 5.1 km on the bike, not quite as far as I have walked but it all counts. Tomorrow is day six of my running. This makes me happy Shock. My new running trousers should arrive tomorrow too. I have no clue how far I am running but I was amazed how much easier day two of the longer running sets was from day one.

Need to face the fact that on Saturday when I weigh myself I still might not have lost anything but I must be getting fitter if I found it easier, yes??!!

OP posts:
MrsJonesAndMe · 20/05/2020 19:56

You are certainly putting in the work!

Galvantula · 20/05/2020 20:33

We're ok thanks.

Nothing exciting to report but managed a 9 km cycle and a 3.5 km walk with the kids so far this week.

Making the most of not having tired kids after school, they'd never be up for it normally! (+ We can stop school early on a nice day).

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/05/2020 21:53

Good stuff.

RubySlippers77 · 20/05/2020 23:45

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 similar info from our school, although I have absolutely no idea how they'll manage to fit any kids in the nursery classroom; it's a lovely space all set up for different activities in each area, but that involves having a few children in each area (small space), then sitting on the carpet together (soft furnishings), working at small tables together etc etc... I just can't see how it would work. I wouldn't mind the DC going back but I can't see that they have the room for it.

Improved fitness is great too @SunshineCake! Such a shame about your DS' landlord - I've seen it on a few threads now - I can understand that the landlords may need the money coming in to pay their own mortgages, but it seems harsh on the students when they don't know what's happening with their courses.

There were a lot of socks purchased @MrsJonesAndMe Grin I'm waiting for Primark to reopen for new pyjamas!

Been doing a fair bit of cooking from the WW website today and deciding whether to join. It is far too hot for fat me Sad

fallfallfall · 21/05/2020 03:57

hello everyone; it's exciting and interesting to hear about everyone daily routine and concerns.
i'm measuring, weighting, and logging my food oh how those little calories add up. trying to stay at 1200 and under (near impossible with a hungry dh) but i'm certainly not far over if that.
my weight hasn't changed much in 3-4 days and it won't tomorrow either as i ordered indian to compliment the chickpea curry i made the day before. so i expect i'll retain salt for a bit.
exercise; well getting in 5-6000 steps in the house and yard. weeding and gardening and really hopeful with what i see.
ankle and knee discomfort ongoing which is insentsive to not overindulge with breakfast and lunch (it seems worse in the am, not noticeable bearable in the afternoon, and throbbing at night). an additional 10lbs probably isn't helping my knees.

SunshineCake · 21/05/2020 05:41

All sounds very positive, *@fallfallfall.

DS1 is making dinner tonight and I am really appreciating the night off cooking plus looking forward to eating his food as he is a good cook.

I am on here as couldn't sleep, sudden panic I am pregnant Hmm. Rationally I know I can't be but there is always that oh..

Today I run.

OP posts:
MrsJonesAndMe · 21/05/2020 07:04

Sounds positive, but shame about the residual pain - had hoped it would be gone by now @fallfallfall

Hope you run early as it's going to be hot again @SunshineCake What is he cooking? DD making lasagne on Sunday.

Bad night's sleep. Tired and a long day ahead does not make a good combination! Ready for the bank holiday weekend - but working tomorrow too before I get there.

SunshineCake · 21/05/2020 18:13

Hi all

My run went very well Shock. I had to run for longer before a walk than on Tuesday and I did really well.

DS made sticky chicken and rice and even though I took my tablet I feel I have reacted. It was delicious though. I haven't stopped today and feel really tired. I slept really badly again last night so hoping my tiredness now means I will sleep tonight. )

OP posts:
MrsJonesAndMe · 21/05/2020 20:30

Well done @SunshineCake

Sorry to hear you reacted to the food. It sounds delicious. I'm very excited, because I've ordered a meal to be delivered on Saturday for DH's birthday - Moroccan. We were meant to eat there for our anniversary in April, but that of course didn't happen!

I've also spent money on a butterfly kit where they send you the caterpillars as I feel DS and I will need a little project. We're making a vinegar/baking soda volcano tomorrow (outside) Wish me luck!

Thinking of you all x
