Does anyone else over 50 struggle to lose weight?

I'm 51. I've put on two stone over the last two years - a combination of being on medication, starting a job where I drive to work and therefore get less exercise as I'm not walking to the tube every day and a divorce.
I have tried to lose weight. I've done Slimming World and WeightWatchers. I know both work for me as I've done them successfully over the years. When I was at SW I really followed the plan and lost about 3lbs over 2 months. That was utterly demoralising and I just gave up.
I don't want to use it as an excuse, but I do think my age is against me. I have now given you the medication (I was on the pill and also taking antidepressants), but my weight still doesn't budge.
I stood on the scales this morning and this is the biggest I've been for years. I realise part of it is my own motivation, but even when I am motivated I don't seem to shift the weight so quickly as I used to.
Does anyone else around my age have the same problem?

I think at 50+ with a sedentary lifestyle Slimming World is probably too carb heavy?

Yes, you might be right there. I am conscious that SW also makes it quite easy to over eat as so much food is "free".
I meant to add I'm 5ft 7 and 14stone, currently in a size 16.

I'm abit older and also the heaviest I've ever been.Am going to have a go on the 16:8 fast.Have downloaded the free app Body Fast and it does look doable. If only the app encourages me to drink water.I am like a camel can go days without a glass of water. But I've put a measured amount in a nice jug with some bio lemon slices and I'm getting it down me.Time will tell but I am positive about it.

Im 52 this year. I started the 16/8 intermittent fasting last September, I wanted to lose a stone, I lost it by Christmas. I have managed to keep it off by having 3 fasting days a week. It's not that difficult to stick to. easiest diet I've ever tried anyway!

Have you tried the 1:1 Cambridge meal replacement diet, strict but amazing results for the right people

Slimming world worked for me but I did reduce the amount of carbs I was having to small portions only once or twice a day, and increased the amount of protein.

Check your sugar consumption, I'm past the 50 mark by many years and noticed the weight creeping back on. I had bad toothache and gave up sugar because of it (I couldn't really eat anything for 3 days!!) I kept it up because I hate thinking that I HAVE to have anything. Like chocolate for example . I drink plenty of filtered water, green/herbal teas

I eat a ground linseed and seasonal fruit smoothie every morning. Salad for lunch with no wheat toast. Veg soup before 6 in the evening. I sleep well and my skin looks loads better!
