Excess skin?

Pre pregnancy I was very slim 5ft 4 and weighed approx 54kg
During pregnancy I put on a lot and after a year I still haven’t lost it, any of it. I now weight 70kg, it’s all on my hips stomach and legs...

Now here’s my worry,
I am currently trying to loose weight and get to at least 60kg, if I reached my weight goal will I have excess skin left over? Any tips to help avoid this if so?! Thank you! Smile

It really depends on a lot of factors if you will retain lose skin. Some people ' snap ' back even if very overweight and others are not so lucky.You might find areas will be hit and miss i.e. tum ok but you end up with bingo wings . Sadly no amount of exercise will make it disappear but it might help the overall look. Try bodybrushing and using a skin cream to keep your skin in top tip condition.

Don't lose the weight too fast. I have recently gone from 75.5 to 63.5 kilos so slightly more than the weight loss goal you have described. I don't have excess skin (at the moment) and have lost that weight over 3.5 months so far. My dad was very overweight and used to go on crazy diets where he would lose weight so fast - he ended up with excess skin.
So, I would say if you go slow and steady and aim to lose the weight over months rather than weeks then you might have more luck.
The only people I have ever known with excess skin have been a LOT bigger than 70kg in the first place.

6kg is not going to give you excess skin 😂

I went from 84kg to 68kg and I have the least bounce back skin you can imagine. I don't have any saggy skin though. I do still have a mum tum from 12 years ago. It never recovered from the stretchmarks and now it's just all bumpy.

@Curiousmum69 I’m aiming to loose 10kg not 6kg

@ploughingthrough
well done on your weight loss Grin
Thanks for the tip I am defo going to take it slow

@delilahbucket well done to you too Grin

Thanks for the tips and your stories, google has made me so worried about excess skin! Probably because I was so tiny before and now I’m not 😂

It's impossible to say as weight loss will affect people's bodies in different ways.

However, if it's any comfort, I lost 40kg in my mid/late40s (took a while Grin) and I haven't been left with any loose skin.
