Weight loss slowing down. Is this an average loss?

I've been on a diet for nearly 5 weeks now - it'll be my 5th weigh in on Tuesday. I've lost 14lbs so far and need to lose around 4 stone overall.

Just seems so SLOW. what would your expectations be weight loss wise, at this stage?

You’ve lost a stone in a just over a month and you think that’s slow?!!!!

It depend a lot what your starting weight is - it’s easier to lose initially if you’re more overweight.

You need to adjust your expectations. 2lb a week is usually possible if you are strict. You have 3 stone to lose, so that’s just 21 weeks. You can’t expect it to be instant, and I don’t think you realise that a stone in 5 weeks is a pretty quick loss.

Actually, your post said slow, but your title says slowing down... on slowing down, I would tend not to think of it as slowing down, but reaching normal after an initial easy (easier!) loss of water.

That's really fast - recommended sustainable weight loss is between 1-2lbs a week. It took me a year to lose 60lbs.

Slow???

That's not slow. 1-2lbs a week is average.

If you had gained 14 pounds in five weeks, would you have called that 'slow'?

You are doing really well - congratulations.

@FiveShelties I've never thought of it like that. I bet I could put on 14lbs in 5 weeks with barely any effort.
