How the bloody hell is this possible?! I've been WFH for the past 3 days and I've eaten the contents of the fridge! And I'm supposed to be on a diet!! Help!

So today I got out and went for a wander round the park - we haven't left the house for 3 days so needed the exercise. However as McDonald's announced they were closing at 7pm we had a last meal from there. 🍔

A better food day today and went out for a walk with DC. 3 really good meals with protein so thanks for that tip! Have just had 2 biscuits with tea but I don't think that's so bad.

How is everyone else getting on?

Sounds really good twinkle.

I’m still snacking but picking at chicken tikka/ pieces in fridge but much better. It helps my appetite has dipped too.

Matching helps as does waving your arms around whether that be randomly or by cleaning windows/ pans. Back to wfh again tomorrow.

Still marching on Grin

Luunaa · 25/03/2020 22:42

I've been doing Joe Wicks with DS. I'm so overweight and unfit I only do 10 mins before I collapse. I'm aching all over and it's only day 3!

twinkledag · 26/03/2020 23:10

Fallen into the food again! Did go for a walk today and do a yoga class so at least that's something!

Planned food for tomorrow... must stick to it!!

We're all trying not too eat everything, in case we run out! And trying not to snack, eat 3 times a day, do either a weights or yoga every day and a walk too. I've actually lost about a kilo in 2 weeks at home!

Redcrayons · 27/03/2020 19:22

On my I’m not having a good week.
I can’t stop eating. I never eat anything at work except my sandwich. I’m having biscuits, hot cross buns, crisps. Hello I’m going to be rolling back into work.

I have been exercising every day.

twinkledag · 27/03/2020 21:56

@Redcrayons - exercise every day is great!

@fishonabicycle - we need a breakdown of what you've done to lose weight these past two weeks! 😂

Not too much of a bad day until DH decided he wanted takeaway for dinner!

Hi folks,
Gosh on a bicycle - that’s fantastic!

I think I have possibly had coronavirus but v mildly but my no. Stop coughing is preventing me going out and I can’t seem to tolerate any getting out of breath.

It’s a case of doing what we’re can at the moment. These aren’t usual circumstances and if you’re like most people you have extra stocks of food in the house. I have never been good with being trapped in, my husband has said I’m like a puppy I have always needed to get out and run around. For some of us this is a real challenge. Doesn’t help we have all my favourite foods and foods I tend to have limited stop buttons with too. So bread, bread rolls, baguettes, biscuits -my husband has brought the low (blame thrown there). Seriously at this point I think it’s working out a way of coping, staying safe.

I’ve noticed my routines with work have been all over the place. It hasn’t helped not being well and having kids about.

There are little things I’m letting myself off the hook for and other other things I’m implementing like I love exercise so finding something you enjoy. Trying to get in the garden if you have access. I think of you think “don’t eat” the first thing that happens is your feet start walking towards the fridge/bread bin (yes all by themselves!). Stressed, trapped in together, little energy - give yourselves a break (?) let’s focus on we can do, what’s positive.

Maybe a plan. Small things some ideas:

A walk in the sunshine - in the garden needs must it will be a short route!
A bubble bath
A read of something interesting
See if I can bribe the husband for a foot rub
A huge salad with lots of colours - I like rainbow salads
Something kind for someone else (I find myself innately trying to just cheer myself up -coffee, food usually)
Learn something - give it your absolute all and learn it thoroughly

Stay positive. This is a time to also identify what we find challenging. Food diaries?

puppymouse · 28/03/2020 08:01

As others have said the fear of running out of what I have in the way of chocolate etc is restricting the amount I eat.

We had a delivery yesterday and I ordered three Easter eggs, crushed the shells and have a bag of chocolate to last the week now. I'd normally go to the local shop every other day or so.

I've also started drinking more water or squash instead of coke as it's expensive and harder to source.

Was on SW before this all kicked off but now just trying to stay sensible. Getting a good walk in every day as well.

twinkledag · 28/03/2020 21:38

More great tips!!

I've actually had salads the last couple of days for lunch - not the healthiest of lettuces but I craved lovely crisp iceberg which I had with chicken and coleslaw.

A bit of yoga this evening and a long walk earlier.

Still not within my recommended daily calories but small steps!

Another long walk today 👍. It's great spending so much time with DC so I don't feel guilty about spending some 'me time' on exercise!

A few new tactics this week to try and combat this weight:

  • meal plan
  • exercise
  • only snack on fruit and yoghurt
  • either chocolate or crisps in the evening as a treat, NOT both 😳

I was very surprised to be 1lb down on the scales this morning, considering how much I’ve been eating.
I run a lot anyway and I’m still doing similar miles, but have added some core and weights at home which hopefully is paying off.
I think I’ve calmed down a bit with the eating. The fact that I can’t nip down to co op whenever I feel like it is a great disincentive.

@twinkledag I finally managed to get my head into calorific deficit mode a few weeks back! Lost a bit (I don't need to lose much weight fortunately), then lost a kilo quickly worrying about getting my son home from Cambodia! He's back and now I am struggling to keep to the deficit as I am home and near the kitchen all the bloody time!

fishonabicycle · 31/03/2020 20:54

And well done @redcrayons!

SausageCrush · 31/03/2020 21:49

The change of routine has played havoc with my weight loss.

I have lost 35 pounds since last summer with around 10 to go.

I already wfh, but having two teens home and the local pool & gym closed as well as being anxious about my business meant last week was a write off Blush

Then I had a stern talk with myself. I really don't want to put weight on after all my hard work.

So I started again yesterday with a fast day and am feeling much more positive.

My top tops are to brush your teeth after every meal and to not ban any of your favourite foods - just eat them less often and more slowly.

We can do this!

twinkledag · 01/04/2020 23:28

Thanks for the tips @SausageCrush!

My food is still crazy! But I did do a yoga class today.

I do well when I eat low carb but feel guilty for eating so much expensive meat at a time like this...

Did 30 mins on my bike yesterday. Good still out of control but woke up today and decided today's the day I stop eating crisps and chocolate every day, it was getting ridiculous!

How is everyone getting on? New week new motivation?

OP posts:
rivierliedje · 06/04/2020 13:18

I've been putting on lots of weight recently. Mostly due to the anxiety I think which always means I end up mindlessly eating more.

I have been running more, and trying to go for walks as much as possible.

Changednamealready · 06/04/2020 23:29

Well done a twinkle. I’m afraid I haven’t posted as I’m like a snacking machine I actually didn’t realise I had this much snacking ability in me!
