Looks like I'm doing it on my own :(

After a few things that have happened and been said recently, I have decided that I no longer want to be fat.

So, I've made special childcare arrangements so I can walk to work, I'm joining a gym and giving Slimming World a go, I'm joining that tomorrow night.

BUT, I've no support at home, dd1 & dd2 are far too young to understand or be involved.

When I mention it to dh his eyes glaze over as if to say "AGAIN We've been here before", he is overweight too but doesn't care. Also, once he realises I've to pay for classes he will start complaining at the cost

I just wonder if I can do it with no support at home.

That would be great thanks. I have 10+ stone to lose, so it's a bloody long journey.

Losing weight has nothing to do with who is at home. Yes the support would be nice but it is certainly not necessary. I have recently lost a stone and dp wasn't in the slightest bit supportive. He hardly noticed tbh. Just eat less than those at home. Just cook healthy food and eat less of it than you would normally.
As far as I can tell you get the strenght to lose weight and improve your health from within so you can do it

I joined Slimming world the week before last, I lost 5.5lbs in the first week, so was thrilled. I have another 2 stone (at least) to lose, but am finding that I am eating more and enjoying being healthy.
DH is having what I eat though with add-ons (Bread/Potatoes etc) and I don't feel like I am missing out.
I don't get on here much, but when I am I would love to try and swap tips etc/keep each other motivated, would that be OK?
Go to class, get your stuff about how the diet works and I guarantee you could do it without feeling that you are massively altering the way your family eats. It's a really healthy, well-balanced diet.

Sorry, am full of enthusiasm at the start of the diet and still excited about losing so much in the first week!

Lizzylou, that is fantastic in your first week. Good on you.

You are more than welcome to come on here for tips etc.

Carmenere, thank you for those words, you are right, the strength and determination does come from within.

Aimsmum, Monday nights it is, my class is at 5.30 tomorrow.

Radley - I'm starting Slimming World tomorrow and have 7 stone to lose. My DH can eat tons but is naturally slim - I'm the only overweight one in my house. Let's all try and help each other if we can. xx

Thanks!
It has deffo spurred me on, I need to think that I am taking chunks of weight off rather than of the weight I still have to lose tbh.
It has been relatively easy tbh, and instead of skipping meals and feeling tired I feel full and have loads of energy.

For those of you starting slimming world, there is a thread here for support

Radley, I think once your dh sees you are serious & losing weight, he will be proud of you. My dh is overweight too, not obese, but he could do with dropping a couple of stone, for his own helath if nothing else.

Basically, by the healthy meals I prepare for him and the amount of fruit & muller lights I put in his lunch, he has lost about a stone since July!! So, your dh will benefit from your healthy eating also

Good Luck, you can do it!!!! Oh, when you're at group tomorrow night, pick up the SW magazine for just £1.50 there's loads of recipes in it for you to try
