Giving up being a chubby twat for Lent

I'm carrying a bit of extra timber. I'd say I'm 'chubby' rather than 'fat' but I'm self-conscious.

So far this year I've started and then almost immediately failed about four diets Blush

I find dieting in winter incredibly challenging but Lent seems like a good time to do something about the extra blubber I'm carrying as the weather's getting a bit better and 40-days is manageable unlike January which seems like its about half a million days long.

So, I want to try and eat about 1,300 calories per day sticking to vegetarianism as much as possible. That should shed about 6lbs over Lent which will get me to a good position. At the same time, I want to get back into weight-lifting at home to help tone up. There's also a new spin class at my local community centre twice a week but I've never done spin before and I'm worried I might die....

Anyone with me?

I'm attempting low carb for Lent. I'm not keeping track of what I'm eating though so could easily be demolishing 3,000 calories of butter and cream every day Blush going to weigh myself at the weekend and see if it's having any effect!

How's everyone's week going? Everything was going great for me until yesterday. DP came down with a cold and saw this as an excuse to shovel food into his gob.

I resisted most of it but I reckon I was hitting up towards 1,500-1,600 calories by the end of the day. Then we had a horrible, heavy tea of fishcakes, pasta, and vegetables so I went to bed feeling like a massive bloated whale.

Anyway, today I've taken the day off work and am cleaning the house which is eating up some calories. I also walked a mile or so to my local high street for some bits and pieces so that's more calories. I think that should make up for yesterday.

Grin

I've still not managed to do any meaningful exercise beyond dog strolls (my dog is very slow) but still intend to at some point.

I’ve had a busy week work wise, which has made it easy - most days I’ve been under 1200kcal. But am working from home today and feel really tired - I just want to nibble on biscuits and don’t feel at all inclined to watch what I eat :( :(

This is so hard !!

@HolaVida This is so hard

Hang on in there! You absolutely can nibble on biscuits all day as long as you take those calories off elsewhere. Four hobnobs is 210 calories which you can easily make up by not having crisps with lunch (100 calories) and going for a 20 minute brisk walk (100 calories).

My whole approach to this diet is that I'm allowed what I want (apart from alcohol) as long as I'm not having more than about 1,300 calories per day. So I can have my 1,300 calories in nothing but milk chocolate digestives or nothing but broccoli as long as I don't eat too much.

My personal experience is that I fall off diets spectacularly when I deny myself things but when I let myself have what I like but in moderation, I am much better at sticking to a diet.

Full disclosure - my breakfast today was three hob nobs. They're so oaty that they're basically porridge Grin

Thanks @SickOFant - had a couple of rich teas - but just not half the packet. Going well this end - lost two inches on my bottom and waist in a week ! Reckon it’s bloating weight rather than actual fat, but I do feel a bit lighter, so we’ll see what the scales say tomorrow.
Allowed myself to go over the 1200 kcal yesterday - nothing dramatic, just a few sweets and popcorn in the evening.

Hello everyone,

Start of week 3.

I didn't have a great weekend. I didn't drink but food went a little bit out of control because some friends showed up unannounced on Saturday lunch time and we went for a pub lunch. I haven't bothered trying to add up the calories, I'm just writing Saturday off. Oops.

I feel so guilty so I'm ready for a super well-behaved week Grin

I did, though, manage to get my dog out of 2 1-hour walks yesterday and another hour-long walk this morning which has to eat up some calories right?!?!

I haven't weighed myself yet but I feel as though I've dropped a bit of weigh as my belly isn't as wobbly as it was a couple of weeks ago. When I was getting changed yesterday, DP my arms looked 'really thin' Grin Grin

Sending everyone who's still with me good vibes for this coming week.
