Intermittent fasting? Success or not?

Hi all,
First time posting in this topic. Have recently had abdominal surgery at the beginning of feb. Want to start getting healthy and active again.
I weighed myself this morning and got a bit of a shock. I have about 15lbs to lose, and hoping to do this over the next 6-7weeks if possible.
I was thinking of the 5:2 diet.
Does anyone have any success stories of how much weight they've lost with this method?

I'm a serial snacker, and I think that's probably where the excess 15lbs has come from!

Feeling very down about it and want to start feeling good about myself again.

Any other suggestions welcome!
Thanks x

5:2 isn’t true fasting.
Try daily 16:8 - much easier and no counting. Then you can gradually up your fasting hours if you want to.
Been doing IF for 2 years, lost and maintained 10kg loss until now as currently pregnant but it’s also kept my pregnancy weight gain to a minimum. It’s totally a lifestyle not a diet or quick fix.
In the fasting hours you can have water, black tea and black coffee.

5:2 isn’t true fasting. Try daily 16:8

Or try true fasting. Don't eat anything on alternate days.

My husband managed to shift two stone in ten weeks using this method. I use it as necessary to maintain my weight.

Thank you both!
I have read up more on the 16:8 and will give it a try. I had never heard of it before!

Thank you!

I have started fasting for 12 hours a day, from 7pm until 7am. So basically not eating anything late. I'm finding it very easy, and have noticed my clothes are looser too. I also have at least 5 hours between meals with no snacks.

Yes I do 16:8, find it very effective

I started 16:8 at the end of December and have lost 10.5kg. very pleased with it and it's a sustainable lifestyle change.

Just reading into this, since when has it been good diet advice to basically just skip break fast? Doesn't it just ruin your metabolism?

Badgerismyname · 15/03/2020 20:45

@MunchyMunchkin can I ask if you’ve been doing 16:8 whilst pregnant? I was doing it towards the end of last year but having just done ivf I’ve put quite a lot back on. Am now 5 weeks pregnant which obvs is amazing but hate the tubby tummy I’ve regained and was wondering if IF is considered safe to do whilst pregnant... I know I’m obv going to put weight on but would be nice to have some control over it.
