I know, its only the 8th!! But I've given up alcohol.
I don't miss it at all, but all the miraculous miracles that are meant to be happening aren't :(
My sleep is still rubbish.
I'm drinking 3L of water a day. My skin still looks grey and baggy, and my christ I'm bloated and fat :(
All I want to eat is crap junk (I'm not caving but its bloody hard!)
I'm walking more, but I feel so bloody down!
I know its only day 8, but I have friends who gave up alcohol and had lost about 10LB by this point. I haven't lost an ounce, in fact I've gained (Although that might be the new, slightly more accurate scales....)
Can anyone cheer me up by telling me on day 9 Ill suddenly feel so much better?

Probably not what you want to hear but it took about 1-2 months of dieting for me to even see a marginal difference on the scale! But then it started decreasing rapidly as I got into new eating/exercise habits iyswim - hang in there!

Lol its totally what I expected tbh, I think my body likes to hang on to its weight as much as it can!
I will stick with it, its just so frustrating when everyone around you is losing pounds by cutting out virtually nothing!

I know how you feel! I've also given up drinking, resolved to run 3x a week (slowly as I'm relatively new at it), and reined in my eating. I knew that I wouldn't see instant results and planned to weigh myself at the end of the month, but I caved and did it at the weekend - and I'm heavier! I'm trying to assume that I'm retaining water or that this is an immediate reaction to a change in habits, and that it'll go back down again. I'm definitely not weighing myself again until the end of January!!!

Bluntness100 · 08/01/2020 16:28

Is it just alcohol you've given up? Alcohol it's self although calorific, is metabolised differently by your body. It's why alcoholics tend to be thin. What puts on the weight is the shit you eat when you're drinking.

If you've not changed your eating habits, or even increased them, and added caloric drinks, then you'd not see much difference on the scales.

Anyone who looses ten pounds in eight days by cutting out just booze is bullshitting uou. They clearly cut out food stuffs as well. Likely the shit they are when drinking.

kelper · 08/01/2020 16:56

Its alcohol and the associated crisps and random junk that I've given up.
I tend to only drink water or tea (And up until 8 days ago wine!) and I've massively upped the water I do drink.
Its just sooooo unfairrrrrrrrrr Stamps feet like a stroppy toddler

Then it will come off. Don't worry, it takes a few days then you'll realise your skin is brighter and clearer, and you feel better. Don't worry.

I feel your pain, healthy eating and no alcohol and also not loosing weight, guess we have to hang on in there however frustrating. Will be having a couple of drinks over the next few days though cause its my birthday. Hang on in there.

Swearwolf · 23/01/2020 13:46

How is everyone else getting on? I was feeling good - sticking to eating less, running 3x a week, and feeling better. Weighed myself today and I'm exactly the same weight Sad

blubberball · 23/01/2020 15:19

Keep going, I'm only weighing myself every 2 weeks, and hoping that'll help. Next weigh in is the 28th. Keep being healthier and things will get better. Flowers
