Cutting sugar/headache

Decided to reassess my eating after Christmas indulgence and have drastically lowered my sugar intake. Going from 'oh it's Christmas, a fererro rocher for breakfast won't kill me' to day two of super sensible gas left me with a constant headache ibroprofen isn't touching.
Assume it will pass in a day or two.

Has anyone gone no/low sugar? Any tips?

Yes I’ve gone low sugar but no tips I’m afraid. I haven’t suffered from a headache but my mood is dreadful. I’ve turned into a vile obnoxious nasty person And I honestly feel like I could kill for a bar of chocolate. It’s not good but I’m assuming it will pass, hopefully very soon.

Hopefully @poorpaws, I admire your ability to see the change, many don't. I'm still pretty much the same today, super lethargic too but that's probably the box set DH and I finished last night Blush.

Hello, took about 3 days for the headache to shift and a week to stop craving sugar.
Then I felt amazing. I could differentiate between hunger and sugar craving. No loner had an afternoon ‘slump’ etc. Was fab. Very tricky to stick to though as diet very limited (I still had honey and fruit though).

Don’t take ibuprofen or paracetamol, it’s just more chemicals

@Ploppymoodypants I followed your advice, sore overnight but headache free today!

Phenomenally upset tummy however Blush. Makes me wonder how much toxin my body is trying to expel.

Great news! I do remember the odd funny tummy the first week. It’s a big change in diet though

MaryPopppins · 09/01/2020 15:31

For me it's often the sudden decline in salt that causes my headaches.

As I can go from takeaways and processed food to home cooked stuff with very little salt.

So make sure you're getting some salt too.

Ah sorry only just seen your upset tummy comment. Perhaps it's a virus?

Isbutteracarb · 09/01/2020 16:29

Watching with interest as also trying to cut sugar. No headaches but lots of grumpiness 😩 though I just cracked and had a massive chocolate binge so I'm back to square one...

Don't quit now. Sugars cause loads of inflammation throughout your body, and it takes a while for your system to readjust. You will feel so much better in the end so keep up your brilliant progress.

A good day here, thanks for all the support. I think my tummy was adjusting to more veg, pulses and extra water. Head feels clear and cravings less.

How is everyone else doing?
