I was on here a couple of years back when I lost over 25lb and got much fitter and stronger at the age of 48-49. I was feeling great as my main goal was health. I went from a size 12 to a size 6. I had a couple of dexa scans showing despite the weight loss I still had too much fat for my age and size. I got to about 142lb which is just over 10 stone. However, most of my life I was 8.5 stone so I knew I should gradually work on knocking off a few more pounds. The size 10 clothes which I have from the 1980s were several sizes smaller than our current 10 for example.
So I was feeling fab, when I starting having back pain and within a month was diagnosed with lymphoma in my spine and bones, I was bedridden for months, had 6 rounds of chemo and then spent 2019 recovering. I am still in recovery but determined to get back to a good level of fitness. I only mention my weight not because I am obsessed with it but it turns out I have arthritis in my spine and getting rid of any extra weight could help alleviate pain. I am happily married with 3 teens, the oldest started uni this year.
I am currently 51 and weigh 165.8lbs = 11.8 stone. I will take all my measurements this weekend too. I have lost all the strength and general fitness I had.
I would like anyone who wants to lose weight, get fit, improve their health in 2020 to join me. Having had any illness not necessary! But I am determined and if I can do it, so can you. I already did it once as a woman turning 50, so please jump in!
