anyone had success with peloton for weight loss? I would like to lose 21lbs, can't believe it has crept on so suddenly and easily. I got a peloton bike and have high hopes.

Hello! Watching with interest! My husband and I are considering getting a peloton (we need to loose quite a bit of weight) so would love to hear about your progress and if you'd recommend. My fear is that we'd spending all that money and end up using the bike as a clothes rack!

Rkay2 · 02/01/2020 08:42

Oooo. Any exercise will help but let me know your thoughts on the bike. I’m considering getting one!

ivykaty44 · 02/01/2020 08:45

Pelaton are in trouble, so wouldn’t touch there bikes incase they go bust

Used one and wasn’t impressed tbh

Soulstirring · 02/01/2020 19:09

Thanks for your responses.

I hadn’t heard that, I will have a google!! @ivykaty44

I’ve done 8 days and enjoying it so far, really hoping consistent exercise (unlike my gym efforts which are hit and miss) will pay off. I’ve found them suitably hard, I’m only managing to get in the 65th + of the classes so lots of room for improvement. My husband will use it too so
Hopefully we’ll compete with each other and spur each other on. The instructors and very much focussed on self improvement not punishment which I like....although o wish they’d break a sweat when I’m hanging on for dear life 😂

I weighed myself this morning and will do a month of tough love and SlimmingWorld world. Wish me luck.

Well done! Do let us know how you get along, I wish you much success. We're hoping that if we get a Peloton it will be the 'something' that sticks... my gym/exercise efforts are more miss than hit Grin
Good luck with SW...I've started exante so hoping I can shift a few lbs quickly and then move onto a less restrictive diet in a couple of weeks. Good luck!

RME578 · 11/01/2020 15:35

Hi OP! Just checking in... how are you getting on with the Peloton? Thanks!

AgnesNaismith · 11/01/2020 18:07

I’ve just bought one - it’s arriving tomorrow. Are there any peloton Mumsnet groups? If not do any owners want to join up and create one?

AgnesNaismith · 11/01/2020 18:07

Sorry, Monday - not tomorrow!

Youngatheart00 · 11/01/2020 18:09

Watching curiously, interested to know if those who buy find the bike and classes good quality and if the habit sticks?

canyon2000 · 11/01/2020 19:09

Peloton stock has plummeted recently. I wouldn't buy one!

AgnesNaismith · 11/01/2020 19:56

Hmmm I have seen that Canyon2000 but looks like that was due to it being hugely over-valued rather than any failing of the equipment.

I love spin classes but don’t like working out around other people so hoping this really helps me. There is certainly a massive community of people that seem to love it.

interestingdays · 13/01/2020 07:21

Really thankful for this post as eas just about to ask the same question re weightloss and Peloton. RME I want to do Exante alongside it to get a good start.

I have gym membership but never go and I really need to. Hoping thos bile is as addictive for me as for everyone else and long-term. Just cant get to the gym with my work and children to put first

AgnesNaismith · 14/01/2020 12:58

2 workouts in and I love it so far....hoping it sticks!

bakingdemon · 26/01/2020 19:28

We've just got one - husband was really into it and I figured might as well give it a go as I haven't lost all the baby weight yet. I've done a couple of classes and really feel like I've worked quite hard! Any good instructors anyone can recommend?

Poachedeggs1 · 03/03/2020 12:01

Key to weight loss is calorie deficit - so if you continue with the Peloton and be mindful of what you are eating, then you will definitely see results.
I've had my peloton for just over a year and I love it. I try and do 3-4 classes a week, and also do weights at home. The Peloton bike imo is far more accurate than any spin class I used to do. All the metrics are there so you know exactly how hard you are working. I come off a ride dripping in sweat. It makes you very hungry though! Remember it's not just cycling classing - there's cardio, yoga, running, walking etc all available on the app.

My go to instructors are Ben Alldiss, Cody Rigsby and Emma Lovewell. All very different, but I really like Ben because he doesn't do all the cheesy chat on a ride, he just tells you what resistance/cadence to be at , and he genuinely does the class along with you.

There's lots of facebook groups where they organise tribe rides, so you can ride alongside other UK riders.

Sorry - should have added. I've not seen a huge change in my weight (that's not the reason I am doing it) but my body shape has changed significantly and I've lost inches and toned up.

AppleBang · 03/03/2020 23:44

I have one. Must get on it Grin

Happy to share my user name and I'll follow some of you and vice versa

FuckyNel · 24/04/2020 19:18

I’ve just ordered one. Are you still loving it?
