Any Louise Parker Lean for Life fans?

I’ve just dug out my old Lean for Life books and decided time to get back on the wagon. I followed her plan 2 years ago and lost about 3 stone very quickly and managed to keep it off without too much difficulty until a change in lifestyle (lots more travel for work) combined with a really stressful and shitty year has led to me abandoning her principles and putting on 2 stone.

But I know I feel good using her ways of eating and exercising more, I know it works relatively quickly for me and I enjoy her recipes. I also need badly to conquer the stressors and regain fitness levels so am going to start again. 2 weeks before Christmas may sound insane but as she says there is never a good time to start so why wait. Also I’m off work for 3 weeks from Tuesday of next week so have plenty of time to get some good habits imbedded before I need to get back to long commutes and frequent overseas travel.

So anyone else in - either to do the plan or just to read my posts and give me some encouragement along the way?

Today was more of a prep day as I didn’t really eat any of her meals though I wasn’t too far off her plan.

Brunch of scrambled eggs on wholemeal toast with bacon and a cup of tea

Snack americano coffee with milk

Dinner sausage casserole with beans

Lots of mineral water

I also ran (very slowly) for 2 miles this morning.

This sounds great but what on earth is monkey toast? I have tried googling but nothing is coming up?
Loving some of the ideas on this thread.

ColaPip · 22/02/2020 18:26

Very pleased to have found this thread - am keen to restart the LP method so am going to dig out my books asap!

I've had some success with it in the past. I did the intensive programme a few years back - personal training and dietician programme - and it was fab but expensive. I wish I'd signed up for the maintenance support programme, as I let things slide over the following 12 months Blush.
More recently I did the pilot online programme - I think it's the one you've signed up for @Katrinawaves - which was interesting but basically I just need to knuckle down and get on with it!

Good luck all.

Katrinawaves · 22/02/2020 20:48

@needtowalkmore monkey toast is wholemeal bread, spread with crunchy peanut butter thinned slightly with low fat natural yogurt to make it easy to spread and topped with a sliced banana. Quick and easy on a busy morning and really tasty 😀

That sounds delicious! Looks like tomorrow’s breakfast is sorted Thanks

MrsHarveySpecterV · 23/02/2020 11:20

Hi can I join please? I started last Saturday, got weighed this morning and I've lost 10lbs!! I'm in shock!!!!

Yummymummyinthemaking · 23/02/2020 12:44

That’s amazing @MrsHarveySpecterV. Any tips? Or did you just stick to the plan to the letter? Today is my first day and I weighed myself this morning after returning from holidays yesterday. I hope I get as good a result as you next weekend!

MrsHarveySpecterV · 23/02/2020 14:17

I followed it exactly other than last night when I went for a meal but I chose as close to the plan as I could.

Yummymummyinthemaking · 23/02/2020 15:09

Thanks @Mrsharvey and well done on your brilliant result

MrsHarveySpecterV · 23/02/2020 18:45

Thank you. When the kids are in bed I can put a couple of days food on here to give you an idea of what I've eaten if you'd like?

Katrinawaves · 23/02/2020 19:51

That would be great @MrsHarveySpecterV

Yummymummyinthemaking · 23/02/2020 20:38

Yes please @MrsHarveySpecterV that would be great!

MrsHarveySpecterV · 23/02/2020 22:36

Sorry for the delay! Here's two days from last week...
B- scrambled eggs with tomatoes on 1 piece of wholemeal toast
L- tuna nicoise from the book
D- Cajun chicken salad from the book
Snacks- 3x oatcakes with peanut butter and sesame seeds. Hummus, pistachio & pomegranate pitta
Drinks- lemonize, 3 cups of tea, 2 litres of water

B- Vanilla oatbran porridge with raspberries and a spoon of almond butter
L- leftover Cajun chicken salad with a teaspoon of peanuts added to it
D- chicken chorizo and chickpea bake
Snacks- 3 oatcakes with peanut butter & 3 strawberries
Apple donuts from the book
Drinks- same as the say before

Both days I did a workout from the book.

Hope that helps! I'm hoping to stay in the inner circle this week!

Yummymummyinthemaking · 24/02/2020 16:44

Thank you @MrsHarveySpecterV. I am going to try the Cajun chicken next week as it sounds delicious.

Hope you’ve all had a good day. I had cherry Bircher for breakfast, salmon frittata for lunch and 2 lots of 2 oatcakes with aubergine and ricotta dip as snacks. I was starving by mid afternoon so had a couple of slices of ham and some cheese as I decided that was better than breaking and eating rubbish! Doing the Ruby chicken quinoa for dinner.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 24/02/2020 20:05

Hello everyone - it's so good to see some new people!

I have just been to Wales on holiday so I stepped out the circle (ahem) every day but I did stick to it most of the time. I also did some amazing hikes and walks.

10lbs is such an amazing result in a week - wow!

I am ready for another six weeks starting today to really focus.

I went a bit mad at the gym today because I don't work much on a Monday. I did spin, step, the stair climber and a strength training workout. I am aiming for a 500 calorie burn most days because my bmr is soooooo low!

MrsHarveySpecterV · 24/02/2020 21:28

@myohmywhatawonderfulday you must be exhausted! Well done for your gym work!
@Yummymummyinthemaking sounds like a good day. What was the quinoa dish like?
I had the four hour Ragu stuffed peppers tonight, it was delicious!

Yummymummyinthemaking · 25/02/2020 08:13

@MrsHarveySpecterV the quinoa dish was delicious- lots of lovely flavours. I do think the recipes are generally excellent.

I’ve done the week 1 exercise routine and had my cherry Bircher and lemonise this morning so feeling good. I am feeling hungry on the plan though so am hoping my appetite adjusts!

Have a good day in the circle everyone!

Target10 · 25/02/2020 23:00

Hi all! Can I join you please? I’m starting tomorrow, I’ve tried to do a prep week, I’ve sorted my bedroom a bit (it really needed it!) I’m trying to get into good routines and I really like the idea that you need to look after yourself in a wider sense. I think that’s where I’ve fallen before because we all tend to put what’s best for everybody else in front of what we need ourselves and then the diet, exercise and everything else goes out the window! So here I go, corresponds with 6 weeks ish of Lent making better habits. First test tomorrow going out for dinner not drinking wine but as Louise says there’s never a good time to start. And Louise is our chum!

Yummymummyinthemaking · 26/02/2020 16:50

Welcome @Target10 and hope you’ve had a good first day! I agree that looking after yourself is a key part of this and helps with everything else. Hope your dinner goes well tonight- I’ve found giving up the wine far easier than I expected which I think is because I’m treating myself in better ways- early nights etc.

Katrinawaves · 26/02/2020 17:57

Great username for this thread @Target10 Smile

I’m still not doing great with eating plans but have been swimming most days this week. My paid for programme starts on Monday so hopefully that will inspire me to do better!

Hi, can I join in the Leansterings? I'm doing Louise Parker for lent, although a churros fell into my mouth today. Other than that firmly in the circle 20k steps, exercise done and a load of veg eaten. The lack of toast in her meal plans is going to be the big challenge for me.

Target10 · 26/02/2020 23:13

Day 1 done. Dinner was Thai and really pretty light. Had no wine which is pretty unheard of. I’m tucked up in bed feeling virtuous so I’m taking today as a win! I’m in awe of 20,000 steps. I’ve just had a look at mine and the count is....drum roll please ....6152 I really need to improve that! Though to be honest that’s actually good for me! Blush

Yummymummyinthemaking · 27/02/2020 12:51

Welcome @servalan7 and well done on day 1 @Target10. I’m on day 5 now and finding it much easier than anticipated to stick to. I think it is the preparation which really helps as I’m not always trying to work our what to eat. Made the Lovely Lentils last night which I found rather bland. Anyone have any dinner recommendations?

Katrinawaves · 27/02/2020 13:29

I like the paneer curry best. I also like the chicken chorizo and chickpeas and the sesame tuna.

Target10 · 28/02/2020 19:44

I had the paneer curry tonight. It was lovely. How’s everybody getting on?

servalan7 · 28/02/2020 22:59

Hi,
The paneer curry sounds nice.I had the salmon and cucumber salad for lunch yesterday and was really hungry by dinner time. Lack of access to food rather than commitment meant I stayed in the circle. Today breakfast was purple porridge, lunch my own bean stew concoction but dinner was big thick slices of toast, cheese and olives! I miss biscuits.
