8 months until I am a bridesmaid at a family wedding.
I am a 30-something married mother, the other 5 bridesmaids are under 25 and tiny. I know I shouldn't care, but dear lord, I will stick out like a sore thumb Blush
I have at least 30lbs to lose, I need to tone up all the bits pregnancy and general neglect have turned to jelly - and get some serious Spanx for the c-section pooch.
I'm already 20lbs lighter than my heaviest, but I'm off the weight loss wagon and that number is creeping up again...

Desperate for some long term motivation tips! I manage about a month doing all the good things, then fall off into a share bag of chocolate buttons.

Unfortunately gym is not an option, limited childcare, very rural, and poor Xmas Grin

Also, the bridesmaid dress will probably be strapless and slightly fitted Shock

What has worked/is working for you?

Hi @sendmotivation I'm 40 something with 2 DC and a c section behind me! I've also managed to lose 3 st 8lb in 7 months so far. I'm actually below my target weight now and have gone from a 16ish to an 8.

I cut down on alcohol and calorie control mainly by reducing portion sizes. I log everything on My Fitness Pal. I allow my self treats etc but I factor it into my daily calorie allowance so I still dont go over. I'm strict during the week but have a mini blowout at the weekends. Tonight is takeaway and wine! I've also increased my steps and I'm fitting in 10,000 steps on work days and 20,000 + on days off.

My lightbulb moment was when I couldn't fit into a top I'd worn last year, I knew I had put o weight but kind of stuck my head in the sand. I blame it on stretchy waistband. I got on the scales and I was 😬, my bmi was just shy of being obese. This together with a dream holiday booked for next year gave me a kick up the butt. I will be beach ready 😉

Good luck and I hope you find the right method for you.

Thank you @DottieLottie1 might try harder with MyFitnessPal! I've found if I start my day nice and early (before DC wakes) I make better choices throughout the day.
How do you get to 20,000 steps? I'm struggling to hit 10,000 at the minute, I'm a SAHM and try to walk more, I take a pram for DC - we're very rural so limited paths, I try to get a good walk with the dog done each morning before DH leaves for work, I definitely need to up my step-game!

@sendmotivation , generally dog walking. We have a working dog breed so needs alot of exercise. I'm lucky that I live sort of semi- rural and have parkland, woodland and farmland literally closer than my door step. I also run on the spot whilst watching tv 😆 and I take the longest route to do everything!
