5'9" - what's your happy weight?

As the title says - I'm 5'9" and at the moment I'm aiming for about 10 stone 7 to 10 stone 10 but it's been a long time since I've been anywhere near that weight! I know everyone is different but I just wanted an idea of where other 5'9"ers feel happy. I'd say I'm medium frame - don't carry excess fat well though - get back fat, double chin, c section overhang etc. I was bang on 10 stone for about 5 minutes aged 21, which is the lightest I've been as an adult, but I went really flat chested and hated it. Currently 11 stone 10 and a smallish size 14. Could maybe do with size 12 jeans depending on make as my 14s are falling down a bit. I was 15 stone on 1st Jan so I'm very pleased with my progress this year.

This thread has inspired me to diet. 12 stone here I come. Yikes.

I’m 5’9 and my happy weight is about 9 stone 12. I’m currently about 10 stone 2 and a size 10 most of the time.
I used to around 11 - 11.5 stone, carried it relatively well but lost a load of weight through work stress and stopping taking the contraceptive pill about 8 years ago and it never went back on.
At my lowest I was about 9 stone 3 and really didn’t look that well, although clothes hung very well on me!
I’m 53 by the way.

I like to stay under 10 stone. but at 9 and a half stone I look quite scrawny and my friends start to worry. (I lose the weight off my body first but also from my face so start to look ill).

PrincessHoneysuckle · 11/11/2019 08:52

10 stone but I'm 11ish at the moment

soberfabulous · 11/11/2019 09:20

I'm 5 foot 9 and my happy weight is 9 stone 3.

Currently closer to 9.5 and feeling uncomfortable.

Fabuleuse · 11/11/2019 12:04

Thanks to everyone who said well done. Grin This is the third time I've lost a significant amount of weight - I just hope I can maintain it this time. Hopefully it's sunk in that I can't go back to being a sugar fiend - I feel so much better now.

11 stone 7 this morning and sashaying about in my new size 12 jeans (vanity sized no doubt but my vanity doesn't care) feeling like a supermodel, without the beautiful face. So those of you who are around the 10 stone mark or less and feeling too big, I bet you look amazing really! Smile

I'm just over 5'9'' and currently 10 stone 13 which is fat and a size 14-16.

Pre-perimenopause I was always 10st - 10st7 and a size 12-14 apart from a period of marathon training when I went down to 9st 7 and a size 10.

I'd say that 9st 7 would be my weight of choice but 10st is realistic.

Trewser · 11/11/2019 18:09

Isn't that funny. I'm an inch shorter than you and 2 stone heavier and also a size 16/14

Cloudhopping · 11/11/2019 18:18

I’m 5ft 9 and currently about 11 stone 4. My ideal weight used to be about 10.7 to 10.10 but I’m realising now that I’m getting older (48) I probably look better a little bit heavier so would like to be around 11. I’m a small-medium build (Slightly wobbly) hour glass.

Egghead68 · 11/11/2019 18:19

It’s odd how variable it all seems. I guess it depends how the weight is distributed. I wouldn’t be able to pull size 12s up my thighs, let alone do them up, because I have saddlebag thighs, but Fabuleuse can.

Cloudhopping · 11/11/2019 18:20

Sorry, forgot to say I’m a size 12 in everything but trousers where I’m always a 14.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 11/11/2019 18:22

Always interesting to read the variations. I'm 5 foot 8 and my happy weight is 8 stone 10; I'm currently about 9 stone 5 and feeling really lumpy because my clothes don't fit as well - otherwise I would mind as much. Finding the colder weather makes it much harder to eat less too. I met a friend yesterday who's the same height as me and just over 10 stone but looks much smaller - it's all about build and distribution.

DonkeyHotty · 11/11/2019 18:27

I’m just under 5’9 and am currently 9st3. This is half a stone heavier than my happy weight of around 8st10 - I’ve spent the summer (and beyond) drinking and eating far too much! I’m a size 8 and I have a very small frame which is why I think any extra weight seems to be more noticeable on me. I’m trying to lose the weight now not because I think I look fat but because I’d really like to sit down in my skinny jeans without having to unbutton them!

HeavyLoad · 11/11/2019 18:29

I am 5.7 and 10s7lb is my happy weight too. I am currently 11ish st and size 12 bottom, 10 top but always have an aim to get back to 10st7 when i feel a bit wobbly! Doesn't feel like too much effort but i am happy with the way I look at that weight.

Also my top half seems to always stay the same dress size just my hips and backside get larger!!

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 11/11/2019 18:57

5'9", happy weight 10st 7. At that weight I'm a size 10 on top, 14 at the hips. I've not been lower, but am sure I'd still look healthy and not too thin at half a stone under that. Am currently 12 st 4 and with my frame am noticeably overweight.

Egghead68 · 11/11/2019 19:10

Here’s my 10st 13lb frame

FashionFoodLaughs · 13/11/2019 21:25

Fascinating how everyone is different. My happy weight is around 10.10 either a few pounds above or below. I had an ED 10 years ago and went down to 9.10, my periods stopped and I looked dreadful. An apple shaped so any weight goes to my tummy but my arms and legs stay lean - like a barrel with 4 sticks in!
