I think I used all my walking energy 2 weeks ago and haven't been seriously motivated since then. Don't know why, but psychologically it is so much easier for me to walk distances when the weather is lovely - somehow I just WANT to walk more when it's sunny. I know I haven't been doing terribly - would estimate in the 40,000+ range - but it's so much less than my last good week (almost half) that somehow I haven't even bothered to wear my pedometer. Gotta take myself in hand though as I was horrified when I went shopping for fall/winter clothes yesterday....

Tommy · 25/09/2004 23:28

Only 3rd out of 3! I'm getting better
Was thinking about this all earlier and although I'm doing really crap (not good English but very late) I am actually making an efort to walk and go up stairs and things rather than lifts so I reckon it must be doing me some good. And I'm helping the rest of you by doing really badly so it makes the rest of you look good

MadameButterfly · 28/09/2004 11:58

Sorry I forgot to send mine in last week.

I could not get to a computer until today

My total last week was 71988

Tommy · 28/09/2004 22:41

This week's not going to be much better...why do I bother?!

spod75 · 29/09/2004 00:29

Please keep going tommy,

or I'll be last!

Tommy · 29/09/2004 22:42

You see - I am just here to make the rest of you feel better (and belive me, you're going to feel GREAT by the end of this week )

MadameButterfly · 01/10/2004 13:31

My total is going to be rubbish this week. I went out on wednesday night and forgot to put it back on after getting changed.

As I stayed at the inlaws that night i did not have it until i got home on Thursday.

Tommy · 01/10/2004 13:59

At least you have a proper reason for being rubbish - perhaps I should forget to mine on next week

cp3 · 02/10/2004 18:57

Today i have walked loads. Beautiful day so we trapsed round Marwell zoo, my feet hurt.

BUT

I forgot to wear my pedometer. Im such a clutz.

Will post up results tomorrow for what there worth. Mine anyway. xxxx

Sounds as if many of us are unhappy with our recent results, or are completely forgetting to wear our pedometers. Maybe we're forgetting to wear our pedometers BECAUSE we're unhappy with our results? Off to total my pitiful weekly numbers, and email to you.....

cp3 · 03/10/2004 11:04

I only have one set of results so far so im guessing we are all a little embarrassed about the weeks totals. So we will start afresh this week or we could abandon even trying till the nice weather comes back in spring

OP posts:
Tommy · 03/10/2004 20:14

I must admit cp3 that this bloody awful weather does not inspire me to get out and walk. Have a big walk planned for tomorrow but if it's still raining I'm not sure if I can be bothered to wrap the DSs up and go for it or just go in the car
Did you have fun at Marwell? DS1 went there in the summer with his Godparents and still talks about it lots. I haven't been there for years - since taking a school trip!

cp3 · 03/10/2004 20:40

It was my first visit to Marwell thanks for asking and i loved it as did the kids. It was a hot sunny day which helped, Will def go again but i want to try Whipsnade first.

Are you local then cp3?!

Earlybird · 03/10/2004 22:07

I sent in my results. If no one else has, does that mean that I'm the high scorer for the week by default? Sad to admit that it's a good day anytime I'm over 6,000 steps at the moment.

Tommy · 04/10/2004 21:16

I've had quite a good day today!

ernest · 05/10/2004 09:19

Hi I'm back - just got new pedometer which doesn't re-set. I'm doing really well, mainly 'cos I've just got my trampette & am feeling evangelical about it. I did 20'350 yesterday alone! Hope I can keep it up, after all that chocolate & cream I pigged out on yesterday, I need it

MadameButterfly · 05/10/2004 10:59

Hi there. My total for last week was 60,649

Earlybird · 05/10/2004 11:35

MadameButterfly - sounds as if we were on the same wavelength last week as my total was 61,181. Just realized it's getting toward noon, and I forgot to put mine on this morning....

spod75 · 05/10/2004 18:59

Was away for the weekend so couldn't send results in until now but it's a boost to the rest of you...56,808!

Just a thought, as a few of us have said it's more difficult getting out in the Winter, would it be an idea to have a winter target which is slightly lower than 10,000 a day? I know it might be seem defeating the point of it, but I have always have found the theory of start low and work up more motivational. What do you reckon???
Spod75

Tommy · 06/10/2004 22:22

I agree Spod (and started telling you so yesterday - taken til now to finish) I've always aimed (or rather been pleased if I get to) 8,000 and anything above that is a bonus. For me to do 10,000 steps a day I have to make 2 big trips with the double pushchair and that's not always possible. Having said that, today has been crap and we had to go to a music lesson about 8 miles away (went in car obviously - didn't have a couple of hours each end to spare) and then our baby group came round here for the afternoon.
Bu, I guess we should just do what we can and perhaps try and increase each week say by 10%

spod75 · 07/10/2004 21:48

So a winter target then

Say 2000....

Tommy · 07/10/2004 21:50

Sounds good to me - I do 3,000 if I don't leave the house
(feeling a bit smug today cos actually have done 8,000!)
