How do I lose my 'saddle bags'??? Tips on weight loss and exercise desperately needed!

Just been horrified my some photos of me on FB where I was caught unawares at a kid's party. Now, I've always had a big arse but now it appears to be slipping down my legs making my hips and thighs enormous! I hadn't realised how bad it had got.
Not great to have those photos out there but it has made me determind to address it.
What are the best methods of loosing weight from this area? Are there certain foods I should avoid? (< Prepares to be told cheese on toast> Angry)
What exercise is good to lose weight/ shape up my bum and hips?
I'm 5ft 3in, weigh 10 stone and now squeezing into a size 12.
I'm a member of local gym but go once a week and jog on treadmill, cross trainer and rowing machine. Any ideas to improve this?

I am 5 ft 4 and was shocked a few years ago when I stepped on the scales and found out I was 10 stone. I was still wearing size 10 clothes but they really didnt look good.
I went on the 5/2 diet for 3 or 4 months and went to under 9 stone. Started running at the gym , and am now 8 and a half stone and size 8.
I go to the gym 3 times a week and run between 6 to 8 km very slowly. I also snack way less than before and don’t eat breakfast.
My legs will never be skinny , and are still flabby at the tops of my thighs but look much better than before. I don’t have sausage legs when I wear skinny jeans.
I am over 50 and post menopausal.

Thanks for your reply. I'm thinking that I would like to lose a stone with a mixture of diet and exercise. I could definately cut down the snacks.
Sausage legs made me laugh. I'm 46 and won't be skinny again. Just want to feel better about myself.

Google and try callenetics. It’s a cross between Pilates and barre work. It’s hard but I’m sure it’s made a difference to my legs.

I agree with cheezy Also you could look at your sugar intake, I cut right down it and lost weight from everywhere (I didn't need to really , it was because my teeth were playing up!!). It has made such a difference to my energy levels and sleep patterns

I do side stretches and front plies , on tiptoe, in my bedroom every day, it takes no time but has strengthened my legs, waist and hips. Another way to lose the lbs is to do Food Combining, so no cheese sandwiches, have it with a large salad instead. It works. Cut down on caffiene too.
