Would people notice if you lost 5lbs in weight?

It seems quite a lot to me & I’m very proud I’ve lost this much. But no one has said anything Sad
I was 10.11 and now 10.6.

I think it's generally accepted that you can see your weightloss first, then close family you see every day, then work colleagues, etc. You will feel better for 5lbs loss - well done - others will notice soon.

Karwomannghia · 02/10/2019 08:05

I also think the first 5lb are the hardest. You may plateau for a bit but then more will come off.

wineandsunshine · 02/10/2019 08:17

I've lost 8lb in the past three weeks and no one has noticed...I however feel great!

inwood · 02/10/2019 09:27

No. More like a stone. A %of the 5lb will be water, if you then spread what's left over your whole body it won't be obvious.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 02/10/2019 12:14

Me? No, they wouldn't. I sit just under 9 stones and I can put that sort of weight on — and take it off — overnight. So I can weigh in at anything from 8st 9lb to 9st 5lb and I'm pretty certain that nobody would be able to tell where I was just by looking.

AnotherMonickerChange · 02/10/2019 12:15

I'm very obese, so I figure that's why, but no one noticed me lose a stone last year.

SilverChime · 02/10/2019 12:16

I lost a whole stone and nobody noticed. I didn’t feel smaller and it didn’t allow me to go down a size in clothes either.

sugarbum · 02/10/2019 12:19

I doubt it. Certainly not on me but I'm fat as!
Well done OP.

paap1975 · 02/10/2019 12:19

For me it was more than a stone before anyone said anything. I had 3 to lose.

Bluntness100 · 02/10/2019 12:22

Generally no, it's not a lot, and can be done in a few days in reality. People also wouldn't notice if you put five pounds on.

Loopytiles · 02/10/2019 12:22

I recently lost around 20lbs and few people have commented: many consider it rude to comment on others’ bodies.

DH noticed and, stereotypically, was mainly concerned about boobs shrinking!

I didn’t think I wanted validation from others about it, had specific health reasons for doing it, but I’ve been pleased when (a few) people - gym buddies mainly - have mentioned it. Guess that’s just human!

LaurieFairyCake · 02/10/2019 12:47

Nope, I've lost 3 stone and no one has really noticed (I carry weight well)

Oliversmumsarmy · 02/10/2019 13:01

I can lose 4 lb in a day if I get 8 hours sleep. No one has ever noticed

I have lost 3 stone before (13 stone down to 10st) and no one has ever said a word

sofato5miles · 02/10/2019 14:45

I suppose it needs to be in % to have any context. I lost 10% (8.3 kgs) everyone noticed. Then I plateaued, now lost 5kgs/ 7% and they noticed again. My sports buddies and friends are all very complimentary and it is encouraging.

Went from borderline obese BMI to borderline healthy and it has been bloody liberating!

italianfiat · 02/10/2019 14:50

My weight can fluctuate that 5lbs over the course of 24 hours so no, not noticeable. I do weigh much more than you and had to lose 3stone before anyone commented. Losing 5lbs isn't really much of an achievement tbh.

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/10/2019 13:09

No, not really. Have lost 4 times that and no one has said a thing (apart from DH)

Clipperclopper · 15/10/2019 16:56

You could look like a Victoria Secrets model and the fact is most people will not mention it to you. Some might even say you look a bit ill...such is life

GrumpyHoonMain · 15/10/2019 17:01

5 pounds is usually the normal daily variation of most women’s weights. You would need to lose at least 10-14 pounds for someone to notice

thenightsky · 15/10/2019 17:03

I've lost 8lb and nobody has noticed.

mustangs · 15/10/2019 20:40

It was only when I'd lost two stone that others started noticing (or commenting, anyway).
