Thank you poor, I miss her being around the house but old dogs are high maintenance (it was almost like having 3 kids) so it is easier without her. It was incredibly hard but you know you are making the right decision, it wouldn't have been fair to her to keep her going any longer when she just wasn't herself. It's an awful time but you will make the right decision.

I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time health wise. Don't give dieting a second thought, it's far to exhausting a subject at the best of times. I hope you are feeling less tired soon and can enjoy some lovely autumnal walks with your dogs. They are the ones I miss the most.

The less said about my food this weekend the better! Exercise has been good though so it's not all bad!

Good morning all. Happy Monday!

Sorry you have been so ill poorpaws. It sounds horrendous. Don’t worry about dieting. I would think you need to get yourself healthy first.

Well done on your race Kick!

I’m still coughing. Sooooo fed up with it. It’s not as bad as it was but I’m still fed up! Didn’t even get dressed on Thursday. Haven’t been out of the house for a week.

Food and drink not great over the weekend. But. I lost 3.5 pounds over the week. Must be the Benylin!

Starting the FAST 800 diet today. Have five weeks before I go to Australia and I’d like to lose the weight I have put back on since this time last year. I got down to 14st 8 lbs last year on 11 Oct. Today I’m 16st 2.5. Sooo annoyed with myself.

So eggs for breakfast. Home made soup for lunch. Chicken and spinach salad for dinner.

Morning!

Oh paws that sounds horrendous you poor thing. I wish you better very soon.

Kick that's amazing - great time! Star

Peridot there is nothing more depressing and annoying than re-losing weight you've lost once. I am a stone and a half heavier than I was two years ago and feel horrendous and nothing fits Angry

Well, at least I've lost the mysterious 3lbs I put on last week despite being golden every day and starting sober for October. It's going to fall off now, right?

Hello hello! I started a reply on the app but I guess I got distracted, apologies!

BOOP that is so bitterly disappointing, I absolutely hate it when that happens. I see it's now evaporated so it was just a blip, but there's absolutely nothing worse than a kick in the face for all your hard work! Sober October will absolutely have the weight dropping off you. I've still only ever managed 11 days at a stretch off the sauce, I'm in awe of you Grin

paws that is absolutely staggering Shock I am so so sorry, you poor thing! Was the gastroenteritis related to the shingles, or just absolutely hideous bad luck? You're quite right to bench the diet until you're back on your feet, you'd be bonkers to think about calories when you just need to be focusing on getting better. I know what you mean about Lucozade but gosh, thank goodness you could keep it down - you need those calories for your body to fight off the shingles, imagine how screwed you'd be if it weren't for those fizzy wee calories. Bet you won't want to look at a Lucozade ever again when you're back on the solids though Grin

Red and Kick you BOTH get to feel extremely, wonderfully smug with those incredible running achievements Star I simply couldn't begin to run 15K in under 2hrs, and takeaways and feasts are hard-earned and very much deserved by both of you.

sweetsorrow I love a surprise loss, congrats! I always feel they make up for the extremely mean experience of being golden and not being rewarded. It's sooooooo hard to just keep plugging away at it though, isn't it, especially when you look at yourself and just feel you've still got a long way to go. 17lbs is a tremendous achievement and you should be enormously proud. and if you're in a XS tracksuit you must be getting very trim indeed! One of the reasons I used to keep switching up how I weighed myself was because it meant I could keep going for different milestones, switching between "I've lost half a stone!" and "I've got a new kg bracket!" and "I've lost 10lbs!" etc., to keep the sense of achiement alive. You could try the same, celebrate a nice round 20lbs soon, then shoot for a nice round 10 kilos, then or 2 stone, etc.

Peri 3.5lbs in a week where you've been housebound and poorly is really quite amazing, you must be very chuffed. I really feel your pain on the coughing - I always used to finish up colds with a dragging cough which seemed to go on and on and on, it drove me barmy.

Well, my own news is that I was a modest 300g down on Friday. Not much to shout about but I'm pleased the scale's still moving. My aim for October is to lose 1kg, so 300g is a fair start...!

How’s everyone doing?

I’m doing ok. Still bloody coughing though! Ugh.

Monday was a good day and I had 854 calories. I had breakfast but have decided I’m probably better not having breakfast on this plan.

So yesterday I didn’t have breakfast and wasn’t as hungry.

Pretty good all day but then got into a heated Brexit discussion with DH and ended up having wine. And a small packet of popcorn. Still ended up on 1,121 calories for the day. So not too bad.

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 09/10/2019 09:59

Peridot that is a very good calorie day if it includes wine and popcorn!

I'm still soldiering on, some less good days with week but my period is imminent so I'm fully blaming that! Still on it with the exercise so hopefully that'll help make up for food slippage.

Hello all! Peri that's a fab calorie count, and as Red says especially with wine and popcorn!

On Monday I was out getting my steps in the pouring sodding rain (AGAIN), and I slipped on a smooth bit of pavement in my apparently gripless Converse, and landed smack on my lower back Sad I went down like a ton of bricks, like when you slip on ice, landed with my whole weight. (Good job my weight's less than it has been recently Wink ) It was SO painful, I actually lay there completely unable to move for about a full minute! It doesn't look like there'll be any lasting damage but having been a bit better yesterday it's worse again today. Humph. I don't even have an impressive bruise to show for it somehow, which I was sure I would. The very least I want is a war wound.

STILL I managed to get decent steps yesterday and have already got 18K for today, so I'm powering through!

Have had a bit of a dodgy week in general really. Headaches, bad tummy yesterday, and an absolutely dreadful night's sleep last night which meant getting my steps this morning was a real struggle. I was hobbling along feeling very ropey. I'm hoping things'll look up tomorrow Smile

Oh no quim! Sounds like you need to take it easy. I'm struggling with a cold here. You're supposed to feed a cold aren't you? Grin

Report
QuimReaper · 10/10/2019 10:26

Thank you guys for the sympathy! It's still really nagging and I can't stand on my right leg but it seems to be on the mend. Also right after I posted last night I suddenly spotted a nice big consolatory shiner on my elbow where I guess I took a secondary bump! Doesn't really hurt so it can't have taken much weight but it's come up like a plum, whereas there's nothing to see on my back except for two very small bruises Confused Weird.

Kick that cold is doing the rounds, and it seems to be quite a quick strain, I definitely successfully fed mine to death Grin I'm serious, I came down with it the Thursday before last, felt awful by Saturday, then spent all of Sunday on the sofa with doughnuts, pizza and (medicinal) Prosecco, and it was loads better by Monday and gone by Tuesday. Miracle!

I've had a pretty good week food-wise, no slip-ups to speak of, and last night I think I had a NSV. I was looking in the bathroom mirror, and it may have been the light, but I think I saw... cheebones Shock I spent ages turning this way and that, I don't remember ever having any bone structure whatsoever! I mean, I probably did when I was a skinny teen, but it was just my face and I never thought about it. I couldn't tell if they were still there in the harsh morning light but I think my face might be looking a tiny bit different. I find things like that so fascinating, like when I lost about 5kg and suddenly my rings all started falling off; you'd really have thought 5kg wouldn't be enough to make a difference to how fat your fingers are.

Now I'm wondering if I even have a jawline lurking under there...

I have just caught up with the lovely thread. I think I will calorie count /low fat ie more fruit and veg less added fat. Would like to lose a stone by end of Novemberish.

Report
QuimReaper · 12/10/2019 13:24

Welcome fifaffu! That sounds like a good strategy, especially upping the veg, most of our evening meals are now either just protein and veg (dodging carbs wherever possible has been very helpful for me!) or something from the slow-cooker and it's made a big difference for me. Less fat's always a good idea too, I try and limit my cheese intake during the week and have tried to get my mayonnaise habit under control Blush Beware of low-fat alternatives if you're switching out yoghurt and things though, they're often full of sugar and can give you a bit of a sugar crash.

Report
fiffaffu · 12/10/2019 19:27

QuimReaper I never eat low fat processed food, never ever. My idea of lower fat is not adding more than is necessary rather than being liberal with it. I've always eaten loads of veg and fruit, at least 10 varieties most days. I don't eat dairy but do occasionally enjoy some sheeps or goat cheese. I have tried low carb but it always ends in a binge and sometimes terrible tummy pains.

Hello all. Still coughing and feeling crap.

Wasn’t too bad last week. I’m fasting in the mornings until about midday. As the week went in more wine crept in. And over the weekend potatoes, crisps and cheese and crackers.

Net result am down 2.3 pounds. Fairly happy with that considering.

Had roast chicken yesterday and I I have just put the carcass in a big pot with veg to make a pot of chicken soup. Won’t be ready for a while but should be good tomorrow. DH is making beef goulash for dinner form a Hairy Dieters book.

Hope you are all doing ok.

fiff I'm always surprised anyone rocks up on this thread and says they don't eat dairy, I swear if didn't eat cheese all of my weight problems would be nought Grin If it's just oil and things that should be a fairly easy thing to reduce as you say, and I bet you'll see great results.

I am not that strict with low-carbing in the sense that I only do it Mon-Fri (and occasionally do make something with chickpeas or beans), but I have found it a very useful way to slash calories. I dabbled in low-carb years ago after reading about it on here and it really forced me to get more creative with evening meals as a meal without carbs was really anathema to me! I've just kept it up as a way to keep mid-week meals light, and I think it's been great for increasing my veg intake too.

Peri that's a fab loss, well done! Gosh, this cough really isn't letting up is it, you poor thing - hopefully a big pot of nice medicinal chicken soup will be the silver bullet Smile I'm feeling very lethargic today, it doesn't feel like the sun's come up at all and it's pissing with rain again here - will this wet spell ever clear up?! It must be the wettest October we've had in years!

Red half a pound is so little, I'd call that essentially a STS - sounds like you're bobbing along quite nicely really! How's the head today? Flowers

(P.S. I'm aware I celebrate my own 200g losses and don't call them "essentially a STS", but I do call them that when they're gains Grin )

Quim much better today thank you, an early night made all the difference. Hopefully I'll fit in a run and a ride after work today to get my steps back on track.

I know what you mean about the half pound, I'll class it as a maintain!
