Im crap in group situations and really just need someone to tell me what to eat/exercise to do to lose about 3 stone and tone up. Specifically my tummy is horrific nad the bit under the rib cage i swear is getting bigger.

Alcohol isnt important and i can manage green tea

I found it helpful to get an exercise bike, (it had to be a quiet one), and get into the rythmn of cycling at least 3 or 4 miles a day. I'm hopeless at exercising, but I can read a book or watch TV while I cycle and then it is relatively painless! The trick is to give it a fixed slot in your daily schedule. By sticking to that I could choose whether to maintain or lose weight from day to day. Increase the cycling and/or reduce the calories to lose weight - porridge for breakfast, homemade soup and salad sort of stuff for lunch, and supper with the emphasis on lean protein and lots of fruit and veg:- I am sure you probably know just what you need to stick to to keep the calorie intake down without counting absolutely. Good luck!

i think some sort of routine makes it easier

only eat food whioch is actully good for you and make the same for everyone but perhaps replacing some of what you give the family with a salad on the side and be reall ystrict about how much you have eg a tablespoon of rice rather than two, a small galss oforange juice rather thn a full glass, no sweet foods ..and read all the labels

things I eat chicken breast in strips cooked in yougurt and herbs or with curry paste and yogurt in oven with saladf

fresh tuna steak

smoked trout fillet

*cottage cheese

prawns

very occasional sirloin steak trimmed and grilled

lots of fruit bananas,pears,nectarines,berries

red peppers very high in vit c and tomatoes

spinach and watercress

occasional bread but not white and definitely not baguettes..say a couple of slices every other day, but more if taking a lot of exercise

oats and jordans granola for breakfast with semi skimmed organic milk

a couple of cubes of cheddar cheese occasionally or grate it with salad

ricotta with fruit

low fat organic natural yogurt

mushrooms

I only drink water now

I recently started green tea extract and i think that does increase metbaloism too

i also take a selection of supplements mainly omega

I have lost 3 stone since november, to get to 9.5 I have another 2 stone to go..but i think i will be very skinny then although it's what the bmi calculator seems to suggest for my height 5'4"...i am doing a lot of walking, gym and weight resistance..if you build large muscles you willuse up more energy/calories

i built up gradually...didn't lose a lot to start with and found the exercise tedious but after forcing myself to persevere i am now on a roll

I started last november

thank you..i found it hard work as it seems a long time before it shows but now people are commenting, so feel very pleased..also because of my age thought I was doomed to be a frumpy fat person which i didn't like as i was/am fat and lumpy

I am very strict

zippitippitoes · 11/08/2007 13:13

and I didn't join anything ecept the gym through the gp as i didn't fancy any clubs thought they work for lots of people

zippitippitoes · 11/08/2007 13:15

also very specific goals help me..I have 11 stone in my sights for the end of august which was a tough one but it has spurred me to more exercise,
