Help! I can't stop eating!

Seriously I can't stop eating. Have put on a stone and a half since February went through a really stressful divorce and lost a whole lot of weight but now gone the other way and am non stop eating. I am a definite sugar addict/boredom/emotional eater. Will eat anything! Any success stories gratefully appreciated. 🐷

It's carb addiction that you have. If you can go low carb and give up sugar you'd find your appetite would disappear. There are loads of low carb threads on here that are really good and there's someone called BIWI who is really helpful and knowledgeable and runs a regular bootcamp. Good luck x

I have lilies on weight recently - combination of finishing cancer treatment last year, starting f/t work, sedentary lifestyle, dehydration and sleep deprivation. Ive just started on the blood sugar diet and will aim to bin off the first 10% of my body weight in the next 8 weeks. Am also upping the activity, going to bed earlier and drinking lots of water.

2kg down already and I only started on sat 😳

OP, what is your starting weight and height?

It sounds like you need some strategies to keep yourself busy as much as just a diet. Do you have a job/hobbies/charity work you could focus on more?

I am beating my sugar addiction by deciding to eat only fruit, no other sweet foods, until after my evening meal. Then I can have one saucer of sweet treats (e.g. 15 mixed sweets and a Freddo) which I have to make last all evening - when it's gone, it's gone. If I want something else instead, such as a small helping of crumble and custard, I have to do without the sweets.

5ft 5 and 12 stone 4. Work all day which is part of the problem as always sweets and cakes in office and I can't resist. Come home and carry on eating. I have joined the gym but I know I can train all I like but if I'm eating rubbish the weight will stay on. I just need some will power!

I think you need to tell yourself that you are the mistress of your own fate, not the victim of random circumstances.

You CAN stop eating - you CHOOSE not to.
You CAN resist cakes at work - you CHOOSE not to.

Being prepared helps. Plan your meals for the week and only shop for them. At this stage, don't buy foods you 'can't resist' - buy ones you 'quite like.' At the office, don't say, "Oh, they look nice but I really shouldn't..." hoping to be persuaded. Say, "No, thanks." Take a plastic tub of strawberries, grapes or pineapple with you instead if you want sweet nibbles.

If necessary, you can say, "I've found lately that cakes and biscuits disagree with my stomach." They do - they make it fatter!
