I don't want to rely on anything like laxatives but sinve I started the menopause and had a dignosis of very, very high cortisol levels, I can go 'day's wothout 'going' and my tummy bloats and I feel all sluggish and tired etc.
I take flaxseeds, I have a glass of orange juice a day, I eat well incl. fruit and veg, I drink lots of water & I am pretty active !
I don't want to take laculose or anythng but just wondered what else I can do/ or can take to 'wake up' my metabolism .. would prefer something organic/ natural.
So why, is my metabolism so compromised

Painkillers, especially ones containing Codeine? They stuff your ‘smooth passage’ up horrendously.

Menopause is prime time for thyroid issues to start, which slows down every function in your body. Any other symptoms?

Keep a food diary and look for trigger foods that might cause the constipation.

Dr Stuart's Lax Plus tea is a good evening cuppa.
Sends everything on its way by next morning

Cortisol is your stress hormone. Too much inhibits weight loss.
Make sure you are getting enough:
- Water - 2L a day
- Sleep
- Protein in your diet
- Exercise (you already say you're active)

My metabolism is very slow, from eating something to getting rid of it can take at least 3 days, I gain weight very easily, am always cold, no energy. My thyroid blood tests always come back borderline, I'm also suffering hairloss.

Orange juice (although some pulp) is not your friend. Eat the orange with all the fibre instead. Drink water and walk walk walk the hip and abdominal action is helpful to bowel function.
