Keto Diet

Hi everyone
I've been trying to loose weight for ages now and I've considered doing slimfast or juice plus but I've come across the keto diet online. However it appears to be very expensive Confused
I'm a single mum and currently unemployed so I'm on an extremely low budget. Is anyone else on the keto diet? Does anyone have any tips or tricks or recipes that dont cost that much money? I done keto before but it only lasted 1 month because the food shop came to too much money and it was just cheaper to go back to buying food that I was eating already, but I'm now desperate to give it a proper try as I'm miserable with my weight

Heya, I'm doing keto and have been for about 4 months now. At first I was bit eeeeek about the cost of meat etc. But what I've found is just subbing certain things rather than upping the meat etc made the best difference.

So making a spaghetti bolognaise and substituting pasta for courgetti (def buy a cheap spiraliser), every time a recipe calls for rice or potatoes using cauliflower, bulking with broccoli. Also I tend to buy frozen veg which makes things cheaper as well. If you shop at Aldi and lidl, buy cheaper cuts of meat (chicken thighs, high fat mince etc).

I've incorporated intermittent fasting into my lifestyle as well so I only really eat one or two meals a day which has helped with the cost too.

Thank you, I've found it hard because recipes online all contain a lot of herbs and spices and I'm not a massive fan of spice, so that combined with the prices of a lot of things is a bit off putting but I really want to give it a proper go

Try looking at Diet Doctor and also Joe Wicks does some great low carb stuff. I would say if keto is feeling a touch restrictive maybe look into just low carb high fat or paleo which gives more wiggle room for carbs/veg etc.

We've found that our food shop bill has actually decreased. We buy a lot less snacks and icecreams etc
